The anime series My Hero Academia, based on Kohei Horikoshi’s popular manga, recently finished its run after premiering in April 2016. The show quickly became a fan favorite within the Shonen genre, known for its creative power system, exciting battles, and well-developed characters. The story takes place in a world where most people have superpowers, called ‘quirks.’ While these powers are common, they also led to an increase in crime and chaos. This is where heroes step in – to fight villains, protect people, and inspire the world.
My Hero Academia centers around Izuku Midoriya, a teenager born without superpowers who always wanted to be a hero. His life changes when he meets All Might, the world’s top hero, who bestows upon him an incredible power. Izuku then begins training at U.A. High School, a renowned hero academy, striving to achieve his lifelong dream. The series is divided into 23 story arcs across three major parts, and has been adapted into eight seasons of anime. While each season of My Hero Academia has its strengths, some are generally considered stronger than others.
8) Season 5

Students at U.A. High are always striving to become top-notch heroes. Early in the season, Class 1-A and 1-B compete in joint training exercises, and Hitoshi Shinso gets a chance to prove he deserves to join the hero course. Later, the season focuses on the complicated family dynamics of the Todoroki family. The final episodes shift attention to the League of Villains, who have become even more powerful after their fight with the Meta Liberation Army.
7) Season 1

Season one starts with Izuku meeting All Might and receiving his powerful ability. The rest of the season focuses on Izuku’s difficult training and his journey to enroll at U.A. High. We’re introduced to most of the main characters, especially all the students in Class 1-A. The season concludes with the introduction of Tomura Shigaraki and Kurogiri, villains who become very important later in the series.
6) Season 4

Most of Class 1-A earned their provisional hero licenses, but only a few were able to begin work studies at well-known agencies. Deku starts his work study with Sir Nighteye, a former sidekick of All Might. Immediately, while on patrol with Mirio Togata (Lemillion), they run into Kai Chisaki, a very dangerous criminal. The first part of this season centers around a conflict with the Shie Hassaikai organization, and the second part focuses on the U.A. School Festival.
5) Season 3

Students in the hero course were preparing for summer training to improve their abilities, but their vacation is interrupted by a surprise attack from the League of Villains. This season, the villains are stronger than ever, with members who can rival professional heroes. The first part of the season focuses on the dangerous situation at the training camp, and the second half centers on a mission to save Katsuki Bakugo. The season concludes with All Might’s retirement, marking the end of a long period of peace in a world where people have quirks.
4) Season 2

U.A. High’s Sports Festival is a major national event, and a great chance for hero students to be noticed by professionals. This season particularly focused on Shoto Todoroki, revealing details about his difficult past. The latter half of the season also introduced the complex villain, Hero Killer Stain, who is one of the most interesting antagonists in the series.
3) Season 7

Following the devastating Paranormal Liberation War, Japan was left in turmoil after the heroes failed to defeat All For One and Tomura Shigaraki. While Deku’s return to U.A. offered hope for Class 1-A, they were shocked to discover that Yuga Aoyama had been working as a traitor for All For One. Forced into this role, Yuga was given an opportunity to make amends for his actions. The season picked up with the continuation of the war, where the heroes initially seemed to be winning, but quickly realized the villains possessed overwhelming power.
2) Season 6

Season 6 kicked off the Paranormal Liberation War, and the heroes started strong with information from Hawks. But things quickly turned disastrous when Tomura Shigaraki awakened and Gigantomachia appeared. The battle resulted in many deaths and threw the country into chaos. With the remaining heroes strategizing to trap the villains, Deku ended up taking on the entire challenge alone.
1) Season 8

The anime concluded with its final season in Fall 2026, delivering a visually stunning and action-packed ending to the war. Despite being seriously injured, Bakugo bravely returns to fight All For One. With the help of his friends, Deku finally defeats Tomura Shigaraki, bringing the war to a definitive close. The season wraps up with a short epilogue showing the characters healing and working to restore Hero Society after the devastating events.
