HBO Max has added what many consider to be the year’s best movie to its streaming service for the second time this year. They previously streamed Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which was a huge hit with audiences and did very well in theaters. Now, viewers can also watch the film widely considered the best of the year on HBO Max.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, One Battle After Another, is expected to be a major contender during awards season. And good news for movie lovers – you can now watch it at home! The film became available on HBO Max Friday, making it easy to see what many are calling the best film of 2025.
Paul Anderson is a well-respected director among film enthusiasts, and teaming up with Leonardo DiCaprio created a lot of excitement for his movie, One Battle After Another, even before its release. The film came out in September and earned approximately $205 million in theaters.
I just finished watching One Battle After Another, and it’s fantastic! It follows the story of a former revolutionary trying to reconnect with his daughter while on the run. Leonardo DiCaprio is incredible, and he’s supported by an amazing cast – Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, and Sean Penn are all in it. But honestly, the breakout star is Chase Infiniti! She’s brand new to acting, and she almost steals the show playing DiCaprio’s daughter. Seriously, keep an eye out for her – she’s amazing!
2025 Hits Streaming on HBO Max
In 2025, HBO Max became a favorite streaming service for movie lovers, thanks to a strong selection of films from Warner Bros. and a special partnership with A24.
Warner Bros. has had a fantastic year for films, and now many of those hits are available to stream on HBO Max. Along with titles like Sinners and One Battle After Another, viewers can also enjoy Superman, Weapons, Mickey 17, and A Minecraft Movie on the platform.
HBO Max has a deal with A24, bringing all of the studio’s movies to the streaming service first. This year, that partnership has included films like Friendship, The Materialists, Eddington, and Warfare, among others. A24’s new Christmas release, Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet, will also be available to stream on HBO Max in the future.
The partnership with A24 also brought Ne Zha II, the highest-grossing animated film ever, to HBO Max as an exclusive streaming option. Originally planned for a December 24th release, the popular sequel became available on the service a little earlier than expected.
