Hugh Jackman’s popularity ensured his portrayal of Wolverine remained iconic, even after his character seemingly had a definitive ending in Logan. This allowed Wolverine to seamlessly transition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Disney acquired Fox. Deadpool & Wolverine delivered on that promise, and while Logan’s impact hasn’t been erased, it seems likely Jackman will eventually retire the role, making way for a new actor. Many names have been suggested as potential replacements, including Daniel Radcliffe and Henry Cavill, and it’s almost certain someone else will take on the mantle. Wolverine is too important to leave out of Marvel’s plans for mutants, and because of a connection in The Incredible Hulk, we already have a starting point for his backstory.

What makes Continuum so compelling is that it doesn’t offer easy answers. The series centers on Kiera Cameron, a law enforcer from a troubled future who believes the powerful corporation in charge is maintaining order, even though it appears to be a dictatorship. Opposing her is Liber8, led by Edouard Kagame, a group fighting for freedom against corporate control. However, their tactics are extreme and result in many deaths, making viewers question whether violence is justified. Kiera also teams up with police detective Carlos Fonnegra and a brilliant young hacker named Alec Sadler to survive in the past. Ironically, Alec will later create the very system Liber8 is trying to dismantle. This creates a constant moral dilemma for Kiera – she’s forced to protect the person who will ultimately build her grim future – adding layers of complexity and making the show truly stand out.

The comic book The Boys first introduced the idea of heroes who are clearly imitations of well-known figures, and in some cases, the comics explored this concept even more effectively than the TV show.
