The popular show Stranger Things is nearing its conclusion, and the plot is becoming increasingly unpredictable. While many viewers are sad to see it go, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, might have a solution for those hoping for more content.
Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, recently discussed the just-released final volume of season 5 with Liam Crowley from ScreenRant. They talked about the possibility of a future spinoff series and whether the last episodes answered all the showâs lingering questions.
We did our best to address all the questions fans had about the characters and the world of Hawkins, especially regarding the Upside Down. We feel like we’ve wrapped up that story. The upcoming spinoff does connect to the original series in some ways, but it’s essentially a brand new story, set in a different place, with a completely new cast and characters. Itâs a standalone show, really its own thing.
Premiering on Netflix in 2016, Stranger Things quickly became a massive hit. Itâs expanded beyond the show itself to include live experiences around the world and a Broadway play called Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and has contributed over $1.4 billion to the U.S. economy.
In the first part of the story, Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) and Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) became trapped inside Vecnaâs (Jamie Campbell Bower) terrifying mental world, which Holly called Camazotz.
The Upside Down is actually a connectionâa kind of wormholeâbetween Hawkins, our world, and a terrifying dimension called The Abyss. Things are looking grim for Hawkins, but its young heroes won’t give up without a fight against Vecna. Now that Vecna’s plan is clearâto merge our world with the Abyssâeveryone must work together to stop him.
I was so excited to hear about a potential spinoff focusing on Nancy! And Matt Duffer hinting that it might take us to a completely new place with new characters? That’s incredible! It really opens up the possibilities and honestly, I’m already bracing myself for even more suspense and craziness in the Stranger Things universe. It’s going to be wild!
Okay, so I just heard the Duffer Brothers signed a new deal with Paramount! It’s exciting, but it also makes me wonder what it means for Stranger Things. I’m guessing they’ll probably work on some other cool stuff for a while, which makes sense after pouring so much into the show. They deserve a break, and it’ll probably be good to let the ending really sink in before they even think about revisiting that world again. I’m a little sad, but totally understand!
You can now watch the final season of Stranger Things, split into two parts, on Netflix. Both parts are available for streaming, with the last episodes becoming available on December 31st.
