Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, feels like her upcoming part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a special, meaningful event. She joined Stranger Things in its second season, alongside established cast members like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, and David Harbour.
Now that Stranger Things has finished airing on New Year’s Eve, Sadie Sink is starting new roles, including a part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
I was reading an interview with Maya Hawke in The Hollywood Reporter, and she was talking about how joining Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie feels like everything coming together for her – a real “full-circle moment,” she called it. Apparently, she landed the role while still filming season five of Stranger Things, which she said was just a totally wild time juggling both projects.
Sink’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man, and she especially loves the portrayal by Tom Holland. She said joining the Spider-Man franchise felt comfortable because she was already a fan of the story, much like how she was a fan of Stranger Things before joining that show.
Sink had previously collaborated with Dustin Daniel Kretten, the director of Brand New Day, on one of her earliest film projects, The Glass Castle. She described the experience as a ‘full-circle moment’.
While Sink isn’t able to share many details about Spider-Man: Brand New Day yet, she really enjoyed filming it and is excited to talk more about her part when she can.
Having played a role on Stranger Things, she’s used to keeping things under wraps. The show is famously secretive before each new season, and even more so now with the series finale just days away.
Because of this, Sink hasn’t had trouble keeping Spider-Man plot details a secret. “I’m holding onto so many Spider-Man secrets that feel even more sensitive than I expected,” she shared.
It was unbelievable when I learned I’d be joining the Spider-Man universe while we were finishing up season 5 of Stranger Things. Spider-Man has always been my favorite superhero, and I especially love Tom Holland’s portrayal. It’s a really special feeling to go from being a fan of something to actually being a part of it – I was a Stranger Things fan before I was on the show, and I was thrilled with where the story was going. Plus, I’d worked with the director, Dustin Daniel Kretten, early in my career when I was fourteen, so it felt like everything had come full circle. It was a fantastic experience, and I’m eager to share more about it when I can. Honestly, keeping secrets for Stranger Things feels a little easier because I’m also holding onto so many Spider-Man secrets that feel even bigger!
Similar to her role in Stranger Things, Sadie Sink is now part of a long-running series. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are all back as well, reprising their roles from Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. Brand New Day begins a fresh storyline for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, particularly after viewers saw everyone forget who Peter Parker is.
Although Issa Rae’s role in the upcoming Spider-Man movie hasn’t been announced, fans are already guessing which character she’ll play. Popular theories suggest she could be anyone from Jean Grey of the X-Men to Mary Jane Watson.
Sink and the other actors from Spider-Man: Brand New Day will appear alongside familiar Marvel characters played by Jon Bernthal (as the Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (as the Hulk), and Michael Mando (as the Scorpion).
Details about the plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are still scarce, and a trailer hasn’t been released yet—unlike the Avengers: Doomsday trailer that’s already out. Sink has been keeping the story under wraps, but hopefully, more information will be revealed soon.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theaters on Friday, July 31, 2026.
