Peacock Adds One of The Best Sci-Fi Movies of 2025 (& It’s Unlike Anything You’ve Seen)

As 2025 ends, it’s clear the year was fantastic for science fiction. Big-screen releases like Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, and James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash helped the genre thrive. Looking ahead to what promises to be another strong year in 2026, fans can now enjoy one of 2025’s top sci-fi films on Peacock.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s darkly funny and unsettling thriller, Poor Things, is now available to stream on Peacock, starting December 26th. The film, based on the 2003 South Korean movie Save the Green Planet!, features Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons as a couple of conspiracy theorists who kidnap a company’s CEO, convinced she’s an alien intent on destroying the world.

Why You Should Watch Bugonia

Bugonia is a mind-bending film that will make you question everything you see and who the true enemies really are. It’s a disturbing look at paranoia, false beliefs, conspiracy theories, and the problems with modern society, showing how we might be destroying ourselves. What starts as a typical kidnapping story quickly becomes something much stranger, constantly surprising you with unexpected twists. The movie brilliantly puts you inside the heads of the kidnappers, letting you experience their fear and confusion alongside them, and uses its bizarre story to reflect our own fears and flawed thinking.

Lanthimos’s distinct and often unsettling directing style, combined with strong acting – including Golden Globe nominations and Oscar potential for Stone and Plemmons – truly brings the film to life. Bugonia has been widely praised by critics, earning an 87

Even if you’ve already seen Bugonia, it’s worth watching again. Knowing what happens allows you to see everything in a completely new and frightening way. Plus, with the year almost over, now is a great time to experience it.
