One example is Red River by Chie Shinohara, which ran in Sho-Comi magazine from 1995 to 2002. This popular fantasy story was highly praised and even won a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2000. Now, over thirty years after it first appeared, an anime adaptation of Red River is finally in the works.
