
During a recent Reddit Q&A, creative director Paul Fu and game director Richard Knight discussed the game’s map. While it remains 16 square kilometers in size – the same as the original – it’s been made more detailed with new islands and areas within the cities. Unlike the first game, exploring this large world will be seamless, without any loading screens, as Ubisoft previously announced. According to a comparison by YouTuber Perkovic, Black Flag has the second-largest map in the Assassin’s Creed series, only surpassed by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Both Odyssey and Black Flag feature expansive oceans, but Odyssey has more landmass, which is why it’s a slightly larger game.
