Joe Burrow Gifts Offensive Linemen Authentic Fossils for Christmas

‘Tis the season for bones and fossils.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow thought a particular theme would be perfect for his offensive line this holiday season.

The Bengals’ official TikTok account announced on December 27th that Joe Burrow gave his offensive linemen real dinosaur, bear, and mammoth fossils as Christmas gifts.

Following the annual tradition of quarterbacks gifting their offensive linemen, Joe decided on a prehistoric theme. ESPN reports that he hosted his teammates at his home and let each of them choose a fossil as a thank you for protecting him during the season.

Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarius Mims each received cave bear skulls as gifts, while Dylan Fairchild got a piece of a T-Rex.

Seriously, it just screamed Joe! Last year he got the team samurai swords – samurai swords! – and it was so perfectly him. It wasn’t just a gift, it was a total reflection of how fun and different he is. It really showed who he is as a person, you know?

Center Ted Karras told ESPN in an interview on December 26th that the player’s decision showed his intelligence, personal interests, and a desire to stand out. Karras felt it was a truly special thing to do.

Joe often talks about his fascination with ancient artifacts. He once shared a story about a team trip to New York City where he got to see fossils that were millions of years old firsthand.

In a July episode of the Netflix series The Quarterback, he described a visit to the National History Museum. He explained that they gave him and the crew a special behind-the-scenes tour, revealing fascinating items. He compared it to a hidden collection of fossils not usually on public display.

He explained it felt like being at a shoe store where the staff check in the back for your size. He said the fossils were displayed similarly, and it was really cool.

As the team gets ready to play the Arizona Cardinals on December 28th, Joe is showing a lot of Christmas spirit. He recently shared that he’s been facing challenges both in his personal life and with his football career.

He explained to reporters at a press conference on December 10th that many things were happening at the moment, simply stating, “A lot is going on right now.”

Joe spent most of the season sidelined with a toe injury, but he was already thinking about what came next for his career.

He said he needs to enjoy what he does to continue. Having gone through a lot, he questions the point of continuing if it isn’t enjoyable, and that’s the attitude he’s trying to adopt.
