A major plot twist in the final season of My Hero Academia was the return of All For One, possessing the body of Tomura Shigaraki. As a huge My Hero Academia fan, I was completely floored by the ending! It turns out a piece of All For One was hiding inside Shigaraki the whole time, and he took over completely once Deku finally connected with Shigaraki on an emotional level. That connection, that little moment of weakness, was all All For One needed. It was such a clever twist! And honestly, hearing John Swasey, the voice actor, talk about it in ComicBook, he was just as surprised by All For One’s initial defeat and his unexpected return for the final fight. It really shows how impactful that reveal was!
I was talking to Kyle Swasey about the end of My Hero Academia, and he shared how excited he was to come back for the final fight. He actually thought All For One was done for! The director even led him to believe that was it, and Swasey couldn’t believe it. He really felt like there had to be more to the villain’s story, and thankfully, he was right – All For One did come back. He was just relieved it wasn’t such a quick ending for such a big character.
Swasey admitted they always hoped All For One would return, feeling the story couldn’t truly end without him. They were delighted when he did reappear, finally getting a chance to have his say. The season finale not only brought back the show’s main villain for one last battle, but it also explored his backstory through flashbacks, which Swasey found particularly exciting.
My Hero Academia Star Would Love All For One Spinoff
The character is simply enthusiastic, and that demonstrates his human side. According to Swasey, exploring All For One’s motivations in this way opens the door for a potential spinoff series, as it reveals a compassionate side. My Hero Academia has numerous characters suited for their own shows, and All For One would be a particularly fascinating subject.
All For One’s origins lie in a time that My Hero Academia has only briefly touched upon. While the series has shown glimpses of the world’s turmoil when people first began developing powers – through storylines like the Meta Liberation Army arc – this era remains largely unexplored, and many fans hope to see it detailed further in the future.
