Avengers: Doomsday Finally Gives The X-Men What Fox Refused To

As expected, the third trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has been released online, following leaks of the first two. Building on the returns of Chris Evans as Captain America and Thor’s plea to Odin, this latest trailer—which has been getting a lot of positive attention—mainly showcases three members of the X-Men and is considered the best one released so far.

The first details of the new X-Men: Doomsday trailer surfaced online overnight, thanks to Demet Koc at Nexus Point News. While many fake descriptions quickly spread on X (formerly Twitter), this one appears to be genuine, coming from the trailer leak earlier today. Unfortunately, like the previous two trailers, fans are getting their first look through a blurry video with poor sound quality. Here’s the full description, which includes two highlights: the return of the Sentinels, and—even better—confirmation that the classic blue and yellow X-Men costumes will finally appear, something the previous Fox films avoided.

Okay, so I just got a peek at some early footage for what sounds like a massive crossover – Avengers meets X-Men, tentatively titled ‘Doomsday’. It starts really atmospheric, all dark and brooding inside the X-Mansion. The camera slowly glides over the exterior, focusing on that iconic sign – Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. It’s a really deliberate move, drawing you in. Then, you finally see Xavier himself, way off in the distance, sitting in his wheelchair. It’s a powerful image, and honestly, it left me wanting more.

Doomsday’s Leaked X-Men Costume is Justice For Fox’s Insult

Twenty-five years ago, the first X-Men movie playfully mocked the iconic yellow and blue costumes that fans of the comics and the animated series knew and loved. In a memorable scene, Wolverine criticizes the team’s black leather outfits, and Cyclops jokingly asks if he’d rather they wear “yellow spandex.” This moment reflected a broader trend in superhero films at the time – a desire to move away from the campy, over-the-top style of earlier Batman movies and embrace a more serious tone.

X-Men fans have been waiting a long time for these costumes, and it’s fitting that Kevin Feige – who started his career working on X-Men – is the one bringing them to the big screen in a major Marvel Studios film. It’s a nice full-circle moment.

X-Men fans will be thrilled to see the Sentinels appear in Avengers: Doomsday. These robots are well-known from the X-Men: The Animated Series, but haven’t been featured much in the movies – only briefly in X-Men: The Last Stand and more noticeably in Days of Future Past. Their return feels like a great treat for longtime fans.
