Martin’s writing. However, as with any adaptation, some expansion was needed to fill the time and give the actors, particularly those in supporting roles, more opportunities to develop their characters.
What really stands out about the show is its humor. While Game of Thrones had its funny parts, largely thanks to characters like Tyrion Lannister and Bronn, it wasn’t primarily a comedy. House of the Dragon takes this even further, being a much more serious and dramatic show.
