Marvel Fans Baffled By Avengers: Doomsday Ignoring 1 Key Character

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been following all the teasers for Avengers: Doomsday next year, and something’s really odd. We saw Robert Downey Jr.’s return announced, and they started revealing who’s in the cast, which is how we found out a lot of the original X-Men are coming back. But one name connected to the X-Men has been noticeably absent. Now we’ve got trailers for Steve Rogers and Thor, with an X-Men trailer supposedly on its way, but still no sign of a character most of us expected to see alongside them in this movie. It’s got me wondering what’s going on!

Fans are wondering why Monica Rambeau isn’t featured in any promotional material for Avengers: Doomsday. A recent post on X questioned if Marvel is deliberately downplaying her role in the movie. There’s a lot of speculation about the reason, but much of it seems tied to past criticisms of female heroes in Marvel films, particularly the negative reaction to The Marvels from people who didn’t even see it.

On X, fans have been speculating about why certain characters haven’t been featured prominently in promotional material. One user suggested Marvel Studios might be trying to avoid early criticism from a specific online group, while another argued the studio is simply prioritizing characters that are more popular with audiences. A more optimistic take was that with over a year until the movie’s release, they’re pacing the reveals of characters.

Why Isn’t Monica Rambeau In Avengers: Doomsday Promos?

Why are they hiding her involvement in the film?

Monica Rambeau should definitely be in Avengers: Doomsday because of what happened in The Marvels. While trying to repair a tear in reality with Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan, Monica got stuck on a different Earth—one where the X-Men exist, including a version of herself. Kelsey Grammer, who plays Beast in the X-Men, has already been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, making Monica’s connection to that film even stronger.

The recent preview hinting at Monica Rambeau joining the X-Men and Fantastic Four on a rescue mission makes sense, given the upcoming battle against Doctor Doom and the threat of Incursions. However, Marvel might be intentionally holding back key details about ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. If the movie features a conflict between the Avengers, Thunderbolts, X-Men, and Fantastic Four, Monica could be the one to resolve the situation at a crucial moment – a twist the trailers likely won’t spoil. It would be a great surprise, and there’s no need to reveal it prematurely.

I’m seeing a lot of people upset about Steve Rogers appearing in the trailers, but I think there’s a chance it’s all a clever misdirection. Honestly, I’m way more worried about Doctor Doom! It really hit me when I remembered the post-credit scene in Fantastic Four: First Steps – he’s already targeting kids, specifically Franklin Richards. And the Doomsday trailer showing Thor’s daughter, Love, feels like a deliberate connection. It’s got me wondering, if the rumors are true and we see Cyclops in the next trailer, will Rachel Summers be next on Doom’s list? It’s a chilling thought!

It’s understandable why Monica Rambeau wasn’t shown. Marvel is cleverly sharing short clips to build excitement for the potential story in Avengers: Doomsday, and they wouldn’t want to spoil any surprises or plot twists.
