The animated film KPop Demon Hunters became a huge hit this year, gaining a massive fanbase and becoming Netflix’s most-watched animated movie ever. Because of its success, a sequel was quickly approved, and fans are now rewatching the first film, searching for clues about what’s to come. There’s one scene in particular that subtly foreshadows the sequel in a significant way.
That scene happens near the end of the movie, after Jinu gives his life for Rumi, transferring his soul’s energy to her. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey then combine their power with the energy of the people to create a new Honmoon, which once again shields the world from the demons. Importantly, this new Honmoon isn’t golden – it begins as blue and shifts into a rainbow hue, indicating it’s not fully formed, and setting up the story for KPop Demon Hunters 2.

The movie reveals how the Honmoon is created: it’s strengthened by the heartfelt songs of Hunters, which fuel a protective shield with the energy of people’s souls. The Honmoon’s color indicates its strength – it appears pink when weak, blue when at full power, and golden once it’s fully completed and permanently seals away demons. However, this Honmoon isn’t golden, meaning the barrier isn’t complete, and the fight to keep the demons contained will likely continue in the next installment.
What Are The Biggest Lingering Threads To Be Dealt With In KPop Demon Hunters 2?

Beyond just finishing the story with the demons, I’m really hoping the sequel dives into a few unanswered questions. The biggest one for me is Rumi’s background – who were her parents? We find out her mom was a Hunter, which is cool, but it feels like there’s so much more to that story. The movie only tells us she passed away when Rumi was a baby, and I’m dying to know the details! It feels like a huge piece of her puzzle is still missing.
This leads us to the most significant unanswered question: who was Rumi’s father? While we know he possessed demonic qualities, his fate remains unknown – we don’t know what became of him or if he’s still living. Now that Rumi has embraced all sides of her nature, it might be time for her to finally meet him and discover his connection to her mother, why he wasn’t present in her life, and what he’s been doing since she was born.
Beyond the main plot, there’s a lot of intrigue surrounding the rainbow Honmoon. How does it differ from other Honmoons, like blue or golden ones, and what special impact does it have on the world and the defenses against demons? After their battle with Gwi-Ma, will the Hunters be able to use the rainbow Honmoon’s power in new ways? These questions are all very interesting and could be key to the next story. Fans are eager to find out what happens next and return to the world of KPop Demon Hunters, so hopefully answers won’t be far off.
A release date hasn’t been announced for the next KPop Demon Hunters installment, but you can currently watch the first KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix.
