Major Changes Coming to Ahsoka Season 2
Ahsoka Will Get More Joy
A key development in Ahsoka Season 2 will be seeing the title character grow emotionally. While Season 1 showed Ahsoka Tano as reserved and strong, the new season will explore a more vulnerable side of her as she adjusts to life on Peridea with Sabine Wren.
Rosario Dawson recently shared that Ahsoka Tano’s personality will change in upcoming episodes. She explained that Ahsoka will start to show more happiness and become less stoic. This development will allow her to connect with others more easily, offering fans a more optimistic portrayal of the character compared to what they saw in the first season.
Initially, she presented a very strong and composed demeanor. Now, it’s nice to see her becoming more relaxed and rediscovering her happiness. We’re allowing her to experience more joy, unwind, and connect with others in ways she hasn’t been able to before.
Characters Will Be Recast in Season 2
Season 2 of Ahsoka is still happening, but some actors will be replaced. The biggest change is the role of Baylan Skoll, as actor Ray Stevenson sadly passed away.
As Dawson shared at Comic-Con Scotland 2025, the way actor Ray Stevenson portrayed Baylan influenced the plans of Dave Filoni. Because of Stevenson’s passing, recasting the role was difficult. Ultimately, they chose Rory McCann, known for his work on Game of Thrones, to continue the character’s important storyline in Season 2.
Unlike some other character absences, the decision not to bring back Nightsister Great Mother Klothow wasn’t about the story. Actress Claudia Black simply couldn’t return because of difficulties with moving and filming Season 2 in London, which leaves the character’s fate uncertain.
Season 2 Will Have a Decreased Budget
A key piece of news for fans of Ahsoka is that Season 2 will be made with a smaller budget than the first season, as confirmed by Dave Filoni. However, he assured fans that the new season will actually be more ambitious, implying that the team is working more efficiently with their resources rather than simply doing less.
This probably means the show will focus more on building its characters, especially the relationship between Ahsoka and Sabine while they’re on Peridea, and less on big action sequences.
Ezra Will Get a Key Design Change
Ezra Bridger is coming back in Season 2 of Ahsoka, and he’ll look quite different! Lucasfilm shared a first look at the new season during San Diego Comic-Con 2025, revealing that actor Eman Esfandi’s Ezra is now clean-shaven. This is a big change from the long beard he had while he was missing in Rebels.
Ezra is expected to have a much bigger part in Season 2, and with this increased focus could come further development of his character, giving fans a renewed experience with the character in live action.
BONUS: More Screentime for Hera
Mary Elizabeth Winstead will reprise her role as Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka Season 2, and her character will be more involved this time around, resolving a key issue from the first season where her screen time was limited.
The actress revealed that her character will have a much larger role this season, becoming more central to the story. This is a change from her primarily supporting role in the first season. While specific plot details are still secret, it seems Hera will be more actively involved in the main conflict, much like she was in the Rebels series.
