Meanwhile, although Christine’s children wish her well, some people initially showed resistance towards the rapid development in the relationship between the new couple.
Ysabel Brown, Christine and Kody’s daughter, expressed some peculiarity in her feelings, saying, “I’m genuinely happy for her, but since I’ve always known her as my dad’s wife, this new development feels a bit unusual.” She added, “She’s only been divorced recently, so it takes some getting used to.
To her mom Ysabel added, “I do, however, think you are moving so, so fast.”
Christine concurred with her daughter’s perspective, but showed no signs of wanting to decelerate things with David.
She revealed, “I felt certain from our initial date that this was worth putting effort into. However, introducing my children to the situation might come a bit prematurely. Kody admitted that his actions might have sent “confusing signals,” but as he began working on projects, he found himself questioning, “What’s the point of doing this?” He clarified that he would no longer pursue a relationship or courtship with her at this time.
Either way, Meri’s friends were thrilled when she finally pulled the plug in early 2023.

With the hefty $820,000 price tag still unpaid (a debt we reportedly settled in 2023), I shared with my remaining wife, Robyn Brown, that I was leaning towards either abandoning the project or selling it off and starting fresh somewhere new.

In our 14-year journey together, I’ve finally embraced true monogamy, but surprisingly, we find ourselves in the most challenging phase of our marriage. The season 19 premiere saw me confessing that things have been tough between us. Kody is uncertain about who to blame – himself or one of the other wives. He feels a great deal of rejection and I believe he’s questioning whether I will reject him too.

In the September 22nd episode, it was revealed that Janelle mentioned that Kody had essentially stopped communicating with Maddie and her husband Caleb Brush when the family began to significantly fall apart.
In Janelle’s words, Maddie has been extraordinarily protective, almost like a protective mama bear, because Kody hasn’t been around or in contact. She believes it’s best for them that she keeps their lives separate from his until he can be more reliable and consistent without causing unnecessary drama.
Moreover, Robyn mentioned that she has been urging Kody to make amends, and she added, “It seems appropriate for the children to do so as well.
Currently, it appears as if Kody isn’t inclined to mend the estrangement. He expresses frustration, stating that whenever he talks to his daughter, it feels like they’re exchanging information for gossip, which has grown tiresome for him.
During their 32nd anniversary celebration, Meri confided in her friend Brandi that “He hinted at not having truly loved me and feeling as though he was obligated to marry me.” In response, she told him, “‘Kody,’ I said, ‘I know you did love me.’

In my expert opinion, I’d always go the extra mile to assist one individual, and then we’d band together to support another. That was our consistent approach until around the last decade, and suddenly it shifted towards personal estates and everyone wanting their own piece of the pie.
When Robyn required a house in Arizona, everyone contributed towards purchasing her $1.65 million, five-bedroom property – this luxury dwelling had been put up for sale in August.
According to Robyn, the plan was for it to serve as a valuable resource for the family. However, when Janelle proposed that everyone add their names to the mortgage, she faced resistance. Kody responded by saying, “No, no, we must safeguard, you understand, protect Robyn’s estate,” as Janelle later remembered. Now that she’s leaving the family, Janelle explained, she wants her share of the Coyote Pass earnings and also wishes to recover some of the money she invested in Robyn’s house.
But that could be a tough sell.

She mentioned that Kody often spoke about having numerous other financial obligations, yet she’s observed him acquiring items such as trailers and home decorations. “I notice all the artwork on Robyn and Kody’s walls,” she stated, adding, “I see all these possessions. Currently, as seen in the Sept. 22 episode, Janelle admitted that she and Meri, Robyn, and Kody (parents of Aspyn Brown, Mykelti Brown Padron, Paedon Brown, Gwendlyn Brown, Ysabel Brown, and Truely Brown) seldom interact with their families: “At present, there’s not much communication. I don’t think this situation will change significantly.
Speaking about their period residing on a cul-de-sac with four homes in Las Vegas, Kody reminisced, “Those days were the peak of my life’s joy. Everything ran smoothly, and it was wonderful having Maddie and Caleb close by. I adored Caleb deeply, considering him as part of our family.

Kody clarified, “I’m still deeply hurt by how I’ve been perceived because of the accusations made against me that I didn’t do. I can’t move on from this anger just yet. I pray for a time when we can let go of our resentment and find understanding, compassion, and love once more.
At the age of 21 and 19, Kody and Meri admitted that they weren’t particularly well-acquainted with each other when they got married, both spiritually and legally. They later divorced in 2014 so that Kody could officially adopt Robyn’s three older children from her previous union.
In our wedding, she appeared quite distinct and I suspect there were some issues from her past that I wasn’t aware of, Kody stated. At first, I believed I could adapt to the situation. However, as time went on, he expressed that it felt like we were always arguing because “I can’t coexist in a place where she is persistently upset with me.
Despite his desire for change, he found himself unable to depart from the relationship due to its unique nature, as explained by Kody: “In our plural marriage, one cannot ask for a divorce if they wish to remain faithful and devoted. He doesn’t hold her entirely responsible for this. Instead, he believes that everyone develops unique strategies to cope and survive in their own ways.
Yet, he went on to say, “If it’s truly in her mind that we mistreated her or her children despite the fact that she was frequently favored by Dad and we were consistently nurturing our bond with her kids, if she honestly holds this belief, then there’s no possibility of me maintaining a relationship with Robyn.
During a September 29 broadcast, Kody shared how the frequent shifts between four households significantly impacted his eighteen children. He recounted an instance when his and Robyn’s youngest daughter, Ariella (born in January 2016), held onto him tightly as he was about to depart, showing just one example of the emotional consequences for the kids due to their living arrangements.

Among the rare group of children with Brown heritage, Mykelti maintained strong bonds not only with Robyn and Kody but also with Christine and Janelle. During Kody’s divorce proceedings, Mykelti stepped in as a mediator, fostering harmony among them.
From the instant Robyn joined the Brown clan, Mykelti warmly welcomed her to such an extent that she asked her to be present during the birth of her twin boys in November 2022 – Archer and Ace.
During the September 29th episode, Mykelti shared that when Robyn entered our family, I was still trying to find myself. She made me feel unique and understood. When I needed someone, she was there. She was my support when I needed someone to listen, to care for me, and express love.
Christine’s mother was overjoyed beyond words. She expressed, “When Robyn joined our family and it was clear that she and Mykelti shared a wonderful bond, it exceeded all my expectations.” On the October 6 episode, she added, “Ever since I dreamt of having a multi-mother household, I yearned for my children to have strong relationships with other mothers. This is exactly what I hoped for.
Kody believes that it’s not just his wives who are choosing to exclude him from their lives; he thinks they’re intentionally doing so as a form of punishment for a crime he didn’t commit, according to his perspective shared during the October 6 episodes. He essentially stated that his only “guilt” lies in not having fallen deeply in love with the mothers of his older children.
What’s more, he continued, he think his former spouses are a bit to blame.
He explained that the strain in his relationships with his kids was predominantly due to negative comments, saying, “It’s as if the turbulence of our family falling apart has left me feeling responsible, and I can’t help but think, ‘They’re upset? Well, I must be the one who messed up.’
However, while he acknowledges carrying some responsibility, he strongly disapproves of the derogatory remarks. In fact, he openly admitted that he was having difficulties bonding with Hunter, Maddie, and Gabriel. Remarkably, one of his children responded to a text message by calling him “a piece of trash,” stating that they would never communicate with him again.
In a separate incident, he told cameras, “I’ve had one of my kids just say, ‘You’re an a–hole. I’m never talking to you again. You manipulated me and you brainwashed me.'”
He’s unwilling to continue dealing with the venomous situation, as he stated, “I won’t keep reaching out indefinitely.” He believes his elders should take a more active role in resolving matters. He’s ready to put forth the effort, but he expects others to reciprocate and make an effort as well.
For Robyn, watching Kody’s estrangement from his adult children hit far too close to home.
In my younger years, my world shifted dramatically when my parents decided to part ways. He maintained a life with another woman in a different city, while my mom stood alone. On one occasion, I bravely approached him, asking, “What transpired? Why weren’t you there for me?” His responses were nothing more than hollow justifications as to why he was absent during my formative years, leaving an empty void that I still feel today.
Instead of letting Kody’s hurt feelings hinder his efforts, she found it challenging not to feel a slight loss of respect for him. During their heated argument, which transpired towards the end of 2022 and was captured on camera, she expressed this sentiment.
Even though Kody admitted that he could be exerting more effort to repair his bond with his children, he stressed that healing his own heart is a necessary prerequisite first.
He expressed his frustration by stating, “Some of my children seem to be conspiring against me. I’m so enraged about the situation that when I engage with them, I fear they might provoke me with an allegation. At the moment, I’m too emotionally charged. I might only end up causing more harm.
In the heartfelt occasion of Logan’s wedding to Michelle Petty in October 2022, where many family members were present, I, as a dedicated follower, must admit that the warmth and love in the air wasn’t fully resonating with me.
In the October 6th episode, Kody expressed his displeasure to Robyn, stating that he had noticed Madison quickly leaving him with her children, and lamented that she hadn’t informed him about her third pregnancy, which resulted in the birth of daughter Josephine in February 2023. Essentially, he was saying that she didn’t tell him she was expecting a baby.
Frankly, Maddie doesn’t tell her dad much of anything with the two rarely speaking.
Janelle clarified that Maddie avoids Kody because of her strong protective instincts over her children. In fact, Kody hasn’t been around since Evie was born, who is now three-and-a-half years old. Therefore, Maddie didn’t want him to suddenly appear at the wedding and surprise the kids with a ‘Hey, I’m your grandpa!’ type of greeting without them recognizing or knowing who he is.
Kody’s viewpoint is that it’s not practical for grandparents to be consistently involved in their grandkids’ lives, as he explained using Maddie’s situation in North Carolina as an example. This is particularly true when you relocate your children to another coast entirely. Given his professional commitments and personal life in Flagstaff, Kody has his own responsibilities to attend to.
It’s evident that Kody and his grown-up kids hold contrasting opinions about their persistent rift, and a key issue remains Kody insisting on an apology or admission of fault from his side.
Following the end of the COVID-related concerns, our family life didn’t return to normal as expected because Kody felt that his sons owed him and Robyn an apology, particularly Robyn. According to Janelle, she expressed this in the Oct. 13 episode, adding that their issue transformed into something requiring a conversation between her and her sons.
Janelle explained that Kody felt his children hadn’t been faithful to him, adding, “‘It’s like the most valued member of our family, who has poured her heart and soul into this, has been disregarded or something like that,’ she concluded. ‘Well, Kody, whatever you say.’
As Gabriel shared his story with Janelle, he described a recurring sentiment from his father: “He repeatedly implied that I owed him an apology.” Eventually, I had to assert myself, saying something along the lines of, “Look, unless you’re genuinely willing to rebuild our relationship and make amends, we should probably stop talking for now.” A few days later, he texted me back, apologizing. He said, “I’ve been thinking about what you’ve been saying, I forgive you. Please forgive me.” To which I responded, “Forgive me for what exactly?
Among the six children Kody has with Janelle, it’s just Savanah he occasionally spends time with. He doesn’t see them often, but every few months or so, he’ll call and they’ll go out together. Concerning Savannah, who finished high school in 2023, she believes her four elder brothers have assumed a paternal role. In fact, she’s disclosed to Janelle her intention of asking her siblings to escort her during her wedding ceremony someday.
Janelle mentioned she had spoken with Savanah about the topic, and Savanah said something along the lines of, ‘Well, it seems clear to me now that this is the kind of man he is.’ She described him as the type of father who would join us for fun times but then leave. However, Savanah accepts him as he is, understanding it’s all right.
Janelle, however, is less forgiving.
She expressed her disappointment with Kody, saying, “I’m really fed up with him. You see, I’ve observed similar situations before. There are numerous women I’ve collaborated with in the past whose ex-husbands vanished after divorce, leaving the children behind.
Initially, when the strain arose between them, Gabriel found it particularly tough as Kody often invited Gabriel along on his work travels. As Janelle put it, Kody had been an extremely involved father until recently.
Although Gabriel is puzzled about what he might have done to upset his father, during the Oct. 13 episode, he stated, “I told Dad that if he doesn’t alter his ways and can’t accept responsibility, then I simply won’t visit him anymore. And I’m completely comfortable with that decision.
In her words, he finds contentment knowing his father isn’t part of his life, and it’s a wish I have for all my children – that they too can find such tranquility. I believe they are all on the path to achieving this.
For his part, Kody also seems resigned to the situation.
He expressed regret for how Gabriel seems to be feeling, and in a private moment, he explained that he has attempted to reach out to him more than once, but those attempts were unsuccessful. However, this was not due to a lack of effort on his part.
In late 2022, Meri was the one who ended her relationship with Kody, formally severing their bond according to their church’s terms, which they refer to as a “release,” citing abandonment as the reason.
In the October 13th episode, she pointed out that he dislikes that particular word since he doesn’t believe he left her behind; instead, she feels he has.
To put it simply, she believes he paid little attention to her until she decided to depart, which allowed him to claim, “I have no involvement in this.
And Kody didn’t totally deny that he had a bit of a strategy.
He admitted that he had already moved past the situation some time ago. However, he confessed his fear of her reaction if he ended things abruptly. This was due to Meri’s history of disloyalty, which had always been a concern for him. Essentially, it was about preserving his reputation since divorces often tarnish one’s image.
Instead, alleged Meri, it was hers that was being tarnished.
She expressed, “It’s truly disheartening to hear Kody speak about our marriage in such a manner. It seems his perspective on our relationship has shifted, yet the accusations he makes against me to others, which they seem to believe, don’t align with reality.
