Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

As a seasoned observer of human dynamics and relationships, I find myself deeply empathizing with these individuals as they navigate through their personal and familial struggles. Each one of them is grappling with unique challenges, but their shared experiences of love, loss, and longing are universal.

Not exactly what she was going for.

Christine Brown, presently, is blissfully wedded to her husband David Woolley, who they’ve been married for a year, yet on the Oct. 20 episode of Sister Wives, the ex-polygamist was only beginning to discuss David with her six children and their partners.

Following her announcement to the audience about beginning a relationship with David and disclosing that this was her first official boyfriend since parting ways with Kody Brown in 2021, Christine subsequently discussed the newcomer with most of her children, requesting their thoughts on this development.

In the filming of the episode toward the end of 2022, Mykelti Padron, who had just become parents to twins Ace and Archer with her spouse Tony Padron, remarked, “I allowed him to hold my child, which speaks volumes. I don’t let everyone hold my children.

Tony commended David, stating that it was impressive how he managed to raise his eight children alone after his wife passed away in 2012,” Tony noted. “Despite the challenging circumstances, David didn’t succumb to vices like gambling and drugs, and successfully raised them into decent adults. That’s no easy feat.

Yet, Tony unexpectedly remarked something that startled Christine, asserting, “There’s a resemblance between him and Kody. Don’t you think so?

As a lifestyle connoisseur reflecting on the situation, I found myself uttering an exclamation similar to “Oh my!” when the 51-year-old, formerly one of Kody’s four wives, responded in this manner. This prompted me to elaborate on my perspective, which Tony graciously allowed me to share.

Tony commented that David is definitely part of the same generation as him,” he said, referring to David’s use of ‘Boomer’ language which Tony doesn’t understand.

Christine pointed out that while her future husband David was born during the Baby Boom era, she personally does not identify as a Baby Boomer, even though the classification technically applies to him.

Kody, 55, is a member of Gen X, and the father of 18 gushed about his generation in a confessional.

Kody remarked, “Gen X, we’re often referred to as the ‘wild generation.’ It’s an exciting era to be alive! If you were a teenager in the 1980s, you had music videos, fashion trends, and a multitude of cultural events unfolding. Remember Duran Duran? They were popular in the ’80s!

Meanwhile, although Christine’s children wish her well, some people initially showed resistance towards the rapid development in the relationship between the new couple.

Ysabel Brown, Christine and Kody’s daughter, expressed some peculiarity in her feelings, saying, “I’m genuinely happy for her, but since I’ve always known her as my dad’s wife, this new development feels a bit unusual.” She added, “She’s only been divorced recently, so it takes some getting used to.

To her mom Ysabel added, “I do, however, think you are moving so, so fast.”

Christine concurred with her daughter’s perspective, but showed no signs of wanting to decelerate things with David.

She revealed, “I felt certain from our initial date that this was worth putting effort into. However, introducing my children to the situation might come a bit prematurely. I want to understand their feelings towards David, yet their thoughts won’t be the determining factor in the continuation of my relationship with him.

And when it comes to their intense PDA, Christine thinks everyone else just needs to deal.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I wholeheartedly embrace affectionate displays with my partner in the presence of our children, and truth be told, neither David nor I pay much heed to any potential discomfort that might arise. Rest assured, our offspring will eventually grow accustomed to this aspect of our relationship.

It turns out that Christine’s ex-partner surprisingly seems to be supportive of her new romantic endeavors. In his own words, he expressed, “From my perspective, if Christine decided to start dating, she should have been free to do so as soon as she felt she was divorced.

Following Christine’s departure from him in 2021, two more of Kody’s spouses, specifically Janelle Brown and Meri Brown, also chose to leave, leaving Kody with only one ongoing relationship, which is with his wife Robyn Brown.

Christine shared with TopMob News recently that she and Janelle are truly thriving. In her own words, ‘That’s the best way I can put it; we’re really doing great.’

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.

Kody Brown expressed his intention to part ways with his first wife, Meri Brown, not long after their 1990 wedding vows. However, as he had often done in the past, Kody gave Meri hope that things could improve by saying, “Meri, when we move to Flagstaff, this will be a fresh start for us.” This was during their 2018 move, as Meri recounted in the Sept. 15 premiere. “He had led me to believe such things before, and this is what he’s been doing for many years,” Meri added.

She expressed her primary concern as being his poor communication, including his feelings, desires, dislikes, and the narrative he has consistently shared throughout the years.

Kody admitted that his actions might have sent “confusing signals,” but as he began working on projects, he found himself questioning, “What’s the point of doing this?” He clarified that he would no longer pursue a relationship or courtship with her at this time.

Either way, Meri’s friends were thrilled when she finally pulled the plug in early 2023.

In my own words, I admit, “They’ve been saying, ‘We’re here for you, we’re on your side. And it’s about high time,'” revealing a newfound perspective. With the veil lifted, I sense that he’s been subtly nudging me to depart for years, by asserting his lack of affection, “For if he manages to make me walk away, he’s not the villain because he didn’t leave first.

After years of dreaming about constructing our home on the 14-acre plot in Flagstaff, Ariz., I admitted during the season opener that it was time for us to let this dream fade. With the hefty $820,000 price tag still unpaid (a debt we reportedly settled in 2023), I shared with my remaining wife, Robyn Brown, that I was leaning towards either abandoning the project or selling it off and starting fresh somewhere new.

As for Robyn, “I can’t talk about that,” she responded. “That is so not where I’m at.”

Earlier on, TopMob News was informed by wife number two, Janelle Brown, that they gradually drifted apart. However, it was ultimately Kody’s shortcomings as a parent towards some of their children that led to her decision to depart.

In simpler terms, the mom told Logan Brown, Madison Brown Brush, Hunter Brown, Garrison Brown, Gabriel Brown, and Savanah Brown, “The turning point for me came when his relationship with my kids fell apart. It seemed like he wasn’t willing to go to great lengths to mend it. That’s when I realized that was the main reason keeping me here.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

The reason Kody didn’t put more effort into fixing the strained relationships with some of his grown-up kids, was what he shared as an explanation.

In the recent episode on the 15th of September, I found myself feeling out of place within our family unit. Despite being legally married to Robyn and jointly raising our five beautiful children – Dayton, Aurora, Breanna, Solomon, and Ariella – my connection with some of the other kids is sporadic at best. This leaves me wondering, how do I navigate this complex situation? It no longer feels like a cohesive family, and I grapple with finding my place within it all.

In our 14-year journey together, I’ve finally embraced true monogamy, but surprisingly, we find ourselves in the most challenging phase of our marriage. The season 19 premiere saw me confessing that things have been tough between us. Kody is uncertain about who to blame – himself or one of the other wives. He feels a great deal of rejection and I believe he’s questioning whether I will reject him too.

Consequently, she disclosed, “I’m always alert. I’m constantly monitoring to ensure he isn’t undermining our relationship.” To put it simply, her main challenge: “There are no guides to deal with the fact that I’m still wedded to a man who’s going through multiple divorces.

Meanwhile, Kody found himself grappling with a lack of self-assurance, confessing, “I just can’t bring myself to tell my reflection, ‘Hi there, pal. I adore you.’

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “In my perspective, Maddie, Janelle’s eldest daughter, is currently not in contact with her father Kody. During the premiere, Janelle clarified that there have been no recent conversations between them. Neither has called the other, and Maddie appears to have severed ties with both Kody and Robin.

Janelle pointed out that Kody is not fully invested in his relationship with Maddie’s children, Axel, Evangalynn, and Josephine. She stated that she believes he should only have contact with them if he’s prepared to make a firm commitment to it.

In the September 22nd episode, it was revealed that Janelle mentioned that Kody had essentially stopped communicating with Maddie and her husband Caleb Brush when the family began to significantly fall apart.

In Janelle’s words, Maddie has been extraordinarily protective, almost like a protective mama bear, because Kody hasn’t been around or in contact. She believes it’s best for them that she keeps their lives separate from his until he can be more reliable and consistent without causing unnecessary drama.

Moreover, Robyn mentioned that she has been urging Kody to make amends, and she added, “It seems appropriate for the children to do so as well.

Currently, it appears as if Kody isn’t inclined to mend the estrangement. He expresses frustration, stating that whenever he talks to his daughter, it feels like they’re exchanging information for gossip, which has grown tiresome for him.

During their 32nd anniversary celebration, Meri confided in her friend Brandi that “He hinted at not having truly loved me and feeling as though he was obligated to marry me.” In response, she told him, “‘Kody,’ I said, ‘I know you did love me.’

And if he didn’t, the mom to Leon Brown said in a confessional, why did he ever choose to propose?

She pondered, “What could make a bachelor opt to marry a maiden without initially feeling deep affection for her? Seems unfair, doesn’t it? To select me from many others and then say, ‘I’ve chosen you as an experiment to try to coerce myself into loving you for the next three decades’?

In his personal reflection, Kody stated: “Well, Meri is making some allegations. She can certainly speak her mind. I have no intention of responding to them.

Despite being unsure if she would develop Coyote Pass or just sell it, Janelle realized that the first move was clearing the debt on the Arizona property. Unfortunately, as Kody refused to discuss the matter, Janelle felt compelled to seek legal advice, confessing this to her former sister wife Christine Brown during the September 22 episode, stating, “I think I’m going to need a lawyer,” since she believed that was the only way she could possibly get any kind of resolution from him.

In simple terms, Janelle admitted that since she is not legally married to Kody, she has no legitimate claim on his property. She explained further, “It’s not as easy as just filing for a divorce; things are more complex because there is no legal marriage between us.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

Kody’s reason for not discussing the Arizona property with Janelle is because he no longer felt confident in her trustworthiness.

He emphasized during the September 22 episode that we will settle the property when necessary, and he prefers not to share details about his actions or plans as he is fed up with disseminating information that gets distorted by the rumor mill within our fractured family.

A bit of a pot calling the kettle black, Janelle said in her own interview.

She mentioned, “He spills secrets as if he’s got a hole in him, and I couldn’t help but think, ‘I’m not sure it’s appropriate for him to be sharing such private details about his past relationships and wives with me.’

In days when their affection for each other continued to grow instead of diminish, they would combine their funds in a shared savings account.

In my expert opinion, I’d always go the extra mile to assist one individual, and then we’d band together to support another. That was our consistent approach until around the last decade, and suddenly it shifted towards personal estates and everyone wanting their own piece of the pie.

When Robyn required a house in Arizona, everyone contributed towards purchasing her $1.65 million, five-bedroom property – this luxury dwelling had been put up for sale in August.

According to Robyn, the plan was for it to serve as a valuable resource for the family. However, when Janelle proposed that everyone add their names to the mortgage, she faced resistance. Kody responded by saying, “No, no, we must safeguard, you understand, protect Robyn’s estate,” as Janelle later remembered. Now that she’s leaving the family, Janelle explained, she wants her share of the Coyote Pass earnings and also wishes to recover some of the money she invested in Robyn’s house.

But that could be a tough sell.

Robyn remarked, “After all this time collaborating, it seems perplexing to me when Janelle mentions the debt she claims is owed. I can’t help but wonder, ‘How do you arrive at that number? How do you solve that equation? It’s just so puzzling.’

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

Janelle voiced her frustration over the family’s inability to clear their debts at Coyote Pass. She mentioned that Kody often spoke about having numerous other financial obligations, yet she’s observed him acquiring items such as trailers and home decorations. “I notice all the artwork on Robyn and Kody’s walls,” she stated, adding, “I see all these possessions. And I understand, I too have spent money on things.” (Kody, in his defense, explained that a significant portion of his funds went towards purchasing cars—”Basically, I had a collection”—and children’s insurance.)

Although Janelle admitted she wasn’t clear about how Kody and Robyn managed their finances, she often found herself astonished by the appearance of Robyn’s backyard. It was always impeccably done, and there were always various items at her house that left Janelle saying, ‘Wow, really?’

In essence, she expressed that he didn’t value her needs or desires, an issue that eventually took its toll on her. Over time, she came to realize this, and even her grown children were becoming increasingly frustrated, expressing sentiments like “What on earth, Mom?

In Robyn’s opinion, she became more cautious with her finances following the breakdown of her initial marriage.

She revealed during the September 22 episode that she wasn’t very good with managing money in the past. Growing up, she faced numerous financial challenges, and it was only during her divorce that she truly learned how to budget effectively. As for her fellow sister wives, she suggested that perhaps they prioritized their spending differently than she did.

Currently, as seen in the Sept. 22 episode, Janelle admitted that she and Meri, Robyn, and Kody (parents of Aspyn Brown, Mykelti Brown Padron, Paedon Brown, Gwendlyn Brown, Ysabel Brown, and Truely Brown) seldom interact with their families: “At present, there’s not much communication. I don’t think this situation will change significantly.

Speaking about their period residing on a cul-de-sac with four homes in Las Vegas, Kody reminisced, “Those days were the peak of my life’s joy. Everything ran smoothly, and it was wonderful having Maddie and Caleb close by. I adored Caleb deeply, considering him as part of our family.

However, in Arizona, disagreements arose regarding coronavirus safety measures which ultimately led to a disintegration of harmony. Later, he lamented that as his marriages crumbled, so too did his connections with his children; he explained, “This situation just turned all those relationships bitter.

But Christine insisted their were issues well before she announced she was leaving in late 2021.

She stated during the September 22 episode, “The kids who appeared frustrated had been feeling that way long before I departed. Leaving had no impact on their relationship with him. Kody has the ability to mend his relationships with his children.

Though it’ll definitely take some work.

Kody clarified, “I’m still deeply hurt by how I’ve been perceived because of the accusations made against me that I didn’t do. I can’t move on from this anger just yet. I pray for a time when we can let go of our resentment and find understanding, compassion, and love once more.

At the age of 21 and 19, Kody and Meri admitted that they weren’t particularly well-acquainted with each other when they got married, both spiritually and legally. They later divorced in 2014 so that Kody could officially adopt Robyn’s three older children from her previous union.

In our wedding, she appeared quite distinct and I suspect there were some issues from her past that I wasn’t aware of, Kody stated. At first, I believed I could adapt to the situation. However, as time went on, he expressed that it felt like we were always arguing because “I can’t coexist in a place where she is persistently upset with me.

Despite his desire for change, he found himself unable to depart from the relationship due to its unique nature, as explained by Kody: “In our plural marriage, one cannot ask for a divorce if they wish to remain faithful and devoted. It’s prohibited. Consequently, I couldn’t escape this bond, yet I wasn’t necessarily seeking an exit. Instead, I wanted to explore the possibility of salvaging and repairing it.

Consequently, he admitted that Meri assumed they could resolve their issues. However, whenever they interacted, Kody expressed that “She wasn’t pleasant, she wasn’t amusing, she wasn’t considerate, she wasn’t engaging. I’m trying to be interested in her, but I’m growing tired.

In a show of understanding, he pointed out that it was reasonable for Meri to feel left behind, yet he clarified, “I didn’t forcefully evict her; instead, it was Christine, Janelle, and Meri themselves who decided I should depart from our shared residence.

Even though Janelle and Christine didn’t consider it necessary to legally divorce Kody due to their unofficial marital status, Meri requested a formal separation from their church, which is referred to as a “release,” in the last months of 2022.

In the recent episode on September 22nd, I shared that when my four friends and I tied the knot with Kody, it was within our church. However, we couldn’t all have legal marriages, so what we referred to as a covenant bound us instead. Given that we aren’t progressing towards any further marriage, I believe it’s appropriate for us to dissolve this bond. I don’t want to remain eternally linked to him if he doesn’t wish for it, and at this point, I feel that we should cleanly separate everything.

Kody was hesitant about the concept, she mentioned, unwilling to recognize or submit to the power held by the church’s leaders.

Kody clearly stated that the harm inflicted was so extensive that reconciliation is no longer an option, regardless of circumstances. Furthermore, he expressed his discomfort with being accountable to this church, finding its practices burdensome. As a result, he plans to let Meri pursue her own path because if he’s angry with her, it leads to conflict. He simply wants her to move on as it has been over for quite some time.

2021 holiday gift exchange conversations took an unpleasant turn for the 18 Brown family members. As Christine explained, “Things escalated, things went wrong.” The rift was evident as Kody, Robyn, and their children stood on one side, showing no interest in Janelle, me, or our kids. This text conversation led to a division within the group after this exchange.

Robyn explained that her older children perceived the interaction as uncomfortable and felt the need to distance themselves from the relationship, not because they wanted to cut ties or ignore her, but rather because the situation became unpleasant. In other words, it was similar to saying, “This isn’t fun anymore.

For his part, Gabriel is hoping that they could find their way back to each other.

In the October 13 episode, he openly admitted that what he yearns for most is to rebuild a bond with Robyn’s children. During middle school, Aurora was his preferred companion, and in high school, he often tried reaching out to Dayton. However, he doesn’t harbor much optimism about forming a relationship with their father and Robyn.

Aurora firmly expressed that she was repeatedly informed, under various situations and by different individuals, that she wasn’t welcomed as a part of the family when her mom married Kody in 2010. They never regarded her as their sister; instead, they didn’t acknowledge or perceive her in such a manner.

Her sister Breanna expressed that she believed the parents could have made more effort in bringing our family closer together, but unfortunately, this connection was never fully established.

But Christine isn’t sure how they could have opened their arms any wider.

Robyn’s children and Robyn are always welcome to join any event,” she emphasized. “Simply feel free to drop by our home whenever it suits you.

Simultaneously, she mentioned, her daughter Ysabel Brown shared a strong bond with Robyn’s children, and Mykelti Brown Padron resided with them for a while: “Difficult times occurred, and my children felt exasperated at times, but they viewed Robyn’s kids as their siblings just as closely.

Speaking enthusiastically about the freedom she experienced, Janelle expressed her positive view of plural marriage as follows: “When it works well, you’re part of this extraordinary family structure, connected to an enriching community. You have a husband and enjoy a wonderful relationship with him, but at the same time, you retain all your individual independence. To me, plural marriage is truly an excellent setup.

2018 marked a significant shift for me when our family relocated from Las Vegas to Arizona. According to Janelle, Kody found this transition particularly challenging as he was navigating the complexities of splitting his affection at that time.

Speaking on the September 29th episode, I observed that when Kody relocated to Flagstaff, he found it simpler to keep his distance. On a few occasions, I had to remind him of our arrangement to visit my home. He’d often make excuses about being fatigued, and I’d respond, “You can rest just as much at my house as you do at Robyn’s.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

In simpler terms, Janelle stated that her children were reprimanded for opening Robyn’s refrigerator. Meanwhile, Christine’s kids felt distant because they noticed that Robyn was dating their father but he wasn’t living with them at home.

And Robyn said her crew definitely felt the divide.

She mentioned on the September 29th episode that Meri welcomed us warmly, yet the rest of the family found it difficult to embrace us. Essentially, our desire was simply to belong within their family circle.

However, Gabriel might contend that he and his brothers and sisters made significant efforts to integrate them into their group.

In the October 13th episode, he expressed his belief that Robyn seems to have a tendency to perceive herself as a victim. To put it simply, this is his observation. He doesn’t hold her entirely responsible for this. Instead, he believes that everyone develops unique strategies to cope and survive in their own ways.

Yet, he went on to say, “If it’s truly in her mind that we mistreated her or her children despite the fact that she was frequently favored by Dad and we were consistently nurturing our bond with her kids, if she honestly holds this belief, then there’s no possibility of me maintaining a relationship with Robyn.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

During a September 29 broadcast, Kody shared how the frequent shifts between four households significantly impacted his eighteen children. He recounted an instance when his and Robyn’s youngest daughter, Ariella (born in January 2016), held onto him tightly as he was about to depart, showing just one example of the emotional consequences for the kids due to their living arrangements.

In his own words, Kody said, “I had to tell her, ‘I have another wife who needs me, another child to mother. Other children need to see me,'” expressing the difficulty he felt as she clung to him, crying, “‘Don’t abandon me, Daddy, don’t leave me.’

Unfortunately, that’s just a reality of plural marriage, insisted Janelle.

Initially, she conveyed, her children were aware that their father wouldn’t be a constant presence. It seemed to her that Kody and Robyn handled the situation poorly with their children. He was unable to stay away for more than three or four days due to Ari getting upset. I believe this demonstrated poor parenting. Throughout family history, the other kids had managed, and they are now well-adjusted adults.

Among the rare group of children with Brown heritage, Mykelti maintained strong bonds not only with Robyn and Kody but also with Christine and Janelle. During Kody’s divorce proceedings, Mykelti stepped in as a mediator, fostering harmony among them.

From the instant Robyn joined the Brown clan, Mykelti warmly welcomed her to such an extent that she asked her to be present during the birth of her twin boys in November 2022 – Archer and Ace.

During the September 29th episode, Mykelti shared that when Robyn entered our family, I was still trying to find myself. She made me feel unique and understood. When I needed someone, she was there. She was my support when I needed someone to listen, to care for me, and express love.

Christine’s mother was overjoyed beyond words. She expressed, “When Robyn joined our family and it was clear that she and Mykelti shared a wonderful bond, it exceeded all my expectations.” On the October 6 episode, she added, “Ever since I dreamt of having a multi-mother household, I yearned for my children to have strong relationships with other mothers. This is exactly what I hoped for.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Shocked When Kids Compare David to Kody

Kody believes that it’s not just his wives who are choosing to exclude him from their lives; he thinks they’re intentionally doing so as a form of punishment for a crime he didn’t commit, according to his perspective shared during the October 6 episodes. He essentially stated that his only “guilt” lies in not having fallen deeply in love with the mothers of his older children.

What’s more, he continued, he think his former spouses are a bit to blame.

He explained that the strain in his relationships with his kids was predominantly due to negative comments, saying, “It’s as if the turbulence of our family falling apart has left me feeling responsible, and I can’t help but think, ‘They’re upset? Well, I must be the one who messed up.’

However, while he acknowledges carrying some responsibility, he strongly disapproves of the derogatory remarks. In fact, he openly admitted that he was having difficulties bonding with Hunter, Maddie, and Gabriel. Remarkably, one of his children responded to a text message by calling him “a piece of trash,” stating that they would never communicate with him again.

In a separate incident, he told cameras, “I’ve had one of my kids just say, ‘You’re an a–hole. I’m never talking to you again. You manipulated me and you brainwashed me.'”

He’s unwilling to continue dealing with the venomous situation, as he stated, “I won’t keep reaching out indefinitely.” He believes his elders should take a more active role in resolving matters. He’s ready to put forth the effort, but he expects others to reciprocate and make an effort as well.

For Robyn, watching Kody’s estrangement from his adult children hit far too close to home.

In my younger years, my world shifted dramatically when my parents decided to part ways. He maintained a life with another woman in a different city, while my mom stood alone. On one occasion, I bravely approached him, asking, “What transpired? Why weren’t you there for me?” His responses were nothing more than hollow justifications as to why he was absent during my formative years, leaving an empty void that I still feel today.

Instead of letting Kody’s hurt feelings hinder his efforts, she found it challenging not to feel a slight loss of respect for him. During their heated argument, which transpired towards the end of 2022 and was captured on camera, she expressed this sentiment.

Even though Kody admitted that he could be exerting more effort to repair his bond with his children, he stressed that healing his own heart is a necessary prerequisite first.

He expressed his frustration by stating, “Some of my children seem to be conspiring against me. I’m so enraged about the situation that when I engage with them, I fear they might provoke me with an allegation. At the moment, I’m too emotionally charged. I might only end up causing more harm.

In the heartfelt occasion of Logan’s wedding to Michelle Petty in October 2022, where many family members were present, I, as a dedicated follower, must admit that the warmth and love in the air wasn’t fully resonating with me.

In the October 6th episode, Kody expressed his displeasure to Robyn, stating that he had noticed Madison quickly leaving him with her children, and lamented that she hadn’t informed him about her third pregnancy, which resulted in the birth of daughter Josephine in February 2023. Essentially, he was saying that she didn’t tell him she was expecting a baby.

Frankly, Maddie doesn’t tell her dad much of anything with the two rarely speaking.

Janelle clarified that Maddie avoids Kody because of her strong protective instincts over her children. In fact, Kody hasn’t been around since Evie was born, who is now three-and-a-half years old. Therefore, Maddie didn’t want him to suddenly appear at the wedding and surprise the kids with a ‘Hey, I’m your grandpa!’ type of greeting without them recognizing or knowing who he is.

Kody’s viewpoint is that it’s not practical for grandparents to be consistently involved in their grandkids’ lives, as he explained using Maddie’s situation in North Carolina as an example. This is particularly true when you relocate your children to another coast entirely. Given his professional commitments and personal life in Flagstaff, Kody has his own responsibilities to attend to.

It’s evident that Kody and his grown-up kids hold contrasting opinions about their persistent rift, and a key issue remains Kody insisting on an apology or admission of fault from his side.

Following the end of the COVID-related concerns, our family life didn’t return to normal as expected because Kody felt that his sons owed him and Robyn an apology, particularly Robyn. According to Janelle, she expressed this in the Oct. 13 episode, adding that their issue transformed into something requiring a conversation between her and her sons.

Janelle explained that Kody felt his children hadn’t been faithful to him, adding, “‘It’s like the most valued member of our family, who has poured her heart and soul into this, has been disregarded or something like that,’ she concluded. ‘Well, Kody, whatever you say.’

As Gabriel shared his story with Janelle, he described a recurring sentiment from his father: “He repeatedly implied that I owed him an apology.” Eventually, I had to assert myself, saying something along the lines of, “Look, unless you’re genuinely willing to rebuild our relationship and make amends, we should probably stop talking for now.” A few days later, he texted me back, apologizing. He said, “I’ve been thinking about what you’ve been saying, I forgive you. Please forgive me.” To which I responded, “Forgive me for what exactly?

Among the six children Kody has with Janelle, it’s just Savanah he occasionally spends time with. He doesn’t see them often, but every few months or so, he’ll call and they’ll go out together. The other kids don’t seem to have much of a relationship with him. (Janelle explained this in the Oct. 13 episode.)

Concerning Savannah, who finished high school in 2023, she believes her four elder brothers have assumed a paternal role. In fact, she’s disclosed to Janelle her intention of asking her siblings to escort her during her wedding ceremony someday.

Janelle mentioned she had spoken with Savanah about the topic, and Savanah said something along the lines of, ‘Well, it seems clear to me now that this is the kind of man he is.’ She described him as the type of father who would join us for fun times but then leave. However, Savanah accepts him as he is, understanding it’s all right.

Janelle, however, is less forgiving.

She expressed her disappointment with Kody, saying, “I’m really fed up with him. You see, I’ve observed similar situations before. There are numerous women I’ve collaborated with in the past whose ex-husbands vanished after divorce, leaving the children behind.

Initially, when the strain arose between them, Gabriel found it particularly tough as Kody often invited Gabriel along on his work travels. As Janelle put it, Kody had been an extremely involved father until recently.

Although Gabriel is puzzled about what he might have done to upset his father, during the Oct. 13 episode, he stated, “I told Dad that if he doesn’t alter his ways and can’t accept responsibility, then I simply won’t visit him anymore. And I’m completely comfortable with that decision.

She expressed, “It’s truly disheartening to hear Kody speak about our marriage in such a manner. It seems his perspective on our relationship has shifted, yet the accusations he makes against me to others, which they seem to believe, don’t align with reality.
