After the Yōtei Six brutally killed her family and left her for dead, Atsu dedicates herself to revenge, tracking down each member of the group. To succeed, she must find clues to their locations and hone her skills, developing a powerful arsenal. While she’s skilled with a katana, she also learns to wield a variety of other weapons, including dual swords, the odachi, kusarigama, yari, and even firearms.
The demo showcases the first level, called Necropolis, where players control Low and Alone as they explore crumbling buildings while trying to avoid Monster Baby. The demo is expected to last around 30 minutes, and you won’t be able to carry over saves from other game files. It’s currently unclear if the demo will allow players to team up online.
Playing the game in chronological order offers a simpler way to experience the story, but it does come with some pacing issues. The game warns you upfront that the flow might feel off, and that’s true. While the overall story benefits from seeing Ellie and Abby’s journeys unfold together without a break in the middle, the beginning feels slow. All the flashback scenes happen early on, one after another. In the original game, these slower moments came *after* intense action sequences, providing a change of pace. Here, you get several hours of story setup with very little action before Ellie and Abby’s main stories begin.
