Anime fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026, with both returning favorites and brand new series on the way. While Crunchyroll releases many anime each season, Netflix offers its own unique selection, including exclusive “Original” shows. Netflix has been increasingly involved in creating new anime as the industry rapidly expands, and as a major streaming service, it boasts a fantastic library that’s constantly growing.
I love discovering new shows on Netflix, but it’s always a bit of a bummer when great ones disappear! It happens every year – lots of new content comes in, but some amazing series get pulled for various reasons, like not enough people watching or tricky licensing deals. Sometimes popular shows come back, but sadly, that’s rarely the case for those that didn’t get as much attention. In fact, What’s on Netflix recently reported that over 100 Originals are leaving, and I was really sad to see these five incredible shows on that list!
5) Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

In 2016, WIT Studio released a beautifully animated series directed by Tetsurō Araki, who also directed the first three seasons of Attack on Titan. The show won a Newtype Anime Award for Best TV Anime and later became available on Netflix. It’s set in a turbulent world undergoing an industrial revolution, where terrifying creatures called Kabane emerge due to a strange virus.
These creatures are terrifying – they eat people, and a bite from one turns you into one of them! They can only be truly defeated by destroying the steel-covered heart, which is incredibly difficult. Even with huge protective walls, humanity isn’t safe from this monster threat. While the anime will be removed from Netflix on September 13th, 2026, you can still watch it on Crunchyroll.
4) Sirius the Jaeger

This anime, which first came out in 2018, ends with an unresolved cliffhanger, leaving fans eager for a continuation. The story takes place in the 1930s and centers on Yuliy, a young werewolf who is part of a vampire-hunting organization called the Jaegers. Their newest assignment sends them to Japan to combat a group of vampires secretly causing trouble. These vampires are searching for the legendary “Ark of Sirius,” an ancient artifact believed to bestow great power upon its owner.
Driven by a burning desire for revenge after losing everything to power-hungry vampires, Yuliy dedicates his life to hunting them all down. During his quest, he discovers shocking secrets about his own history and the mysterious origins of a powerful artifact. Fans should note that the anime will no longer be available for legal streaming after April 6th, 2026.
3) Forest of Piano

This story, inspired by the popular manga by Makoto Isshiki, centers on Kai Ichinose, a boy raised in a rough neighborhood who finds peace playing an old piano he discovered in the woods. Despite never having lessons, Kai plays with a natural beauty, and the piano seems to respond to his touch. Remarkably, no one else can even produce a sound on the broken instrument. His gift attracts the attention of Sosuke Ajino, a once-celebrated pianist who now teaches.
Alongside his friend, Shuehei Amamiya – whose father is a well-known pianist – he’s also determined to become a brilliant musician. Both boys encounter difficulties as they compete in the challenging world of classical music. Like the series Sirius the Jaeger, Forest of Piano will only be available on Netflix until September 28, 2026, after which it won’t be legally streamable.
2) Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Perhaps the biggest surprise on this list is the return of this well-loved story, now with a third season on Netflix. After the second season ended in 2011, many fans thought the story was over. But Netflix revived it in 2024! The series centers around Sawako Kuronuma, who’s nicknamed “Sadako” because of her long, dark hair and serious expression. Despite her appearance, Sawako is actually a kind and gentle person who just wants to make friends and experience a typical life.
Sawako is shy and lacks confidence, so she’s immediately attracted to Shota Kazehaya, a really popular and outgoing boy at school. As they become friends, Sawako starts to come out of her shell and make more connections with her classmates. The anime series will no longer be available on Netflix after July 1st, 2026, but you can still watch it on Crunchyroll.
1) Mob Psycho 100

This anime is adapted from a popular manga by the creator of One-Punch Man. It centers on Shigeo Kageyama, nicknamed Mob, a middle school student who’s trying to live a normal life despite having incredibly powerful psychic abilities. He works with Arataka Reigen, hoping to control his powers while Reigen aims to exploit them for his own purposes.
Mob keeps battling evil spirits, just as Arataka wants, but problems keep coming up for him. While the first season of the anime will no longer be available on Netflix after May 22nd, 2026, you can still watch it on Crunchyroll.
