Harlan Coben reveals new Netflix thriller Run Away stands out from previous shows – and which episode to watch out for

You can always expect a Harlan Coben thriller to be packed with surprises and unexpected plot twists.

At a screening of the series, Harlan Coben explained that this installment has more surprises than any of his previous work. He specifically highlighted episode 8, predicting viewers will believe they’ve figured out the mystery multiple times, with a final twist arriving in the last minute that will be both shocking and emotionally impactful.

Okay, so about that final episode of ‘Missing You’? We’re all going to have to be patient and find out what happens! Honestly, this show is keeping up Harlan Coben’s tradition – it’s full of twists and turns, just like ‘Fool Me Once,’ ‘The Stranger,’ ‘Stay Close,’ and all his other popular series. I’m really hooked and eager to see how it all wraps up.

This season, the story follows Simon Greene, played by James Nesbitt, a man who appears to have a perfect life and family. But everything changes when his daughter, Paige, disappears, and he embarks on a frantic search to find her.

While searching for Paige, he meets Elena Ravenscroft, a private investigator played by Ruth Jones, who is investigating a different disappearance.

Harlan Coben series have become a New Year’s tradition. Does he ever feel pressured to create another one each year?

Danny Brocklehurst, the writer of the series, admitted to feeling a little anxious before the new installment was released. While previous shows, particularly ‘Fool Me Once’, have been very successful, he wondered if this one would perform as well. He’s cautiously optimistic, as audiences generally enjoy the thrillers they produce.

Run Away tells the story of Simon, a man who seemed to have it all – a happy family, a good career, and a comfortable home. But his world crumbles when his teenage daughter, Paige, runs away. The film follows Simon as he desperately searches for her, and finally finds her in a vulnerable state, struggling with drug use, giving him the chance to bring her home.

She soon discovers she’s not the only one facing this problem, and a disagreement quickly turns violent. Afterward, Simon feels like he’s lost his daughter all over again, and his desperate search for her leads him into a shadowy and dangerous world, uncovering family secrets that could destroy everything.

Joining the cast of Run Away are Minnie Driver, Ellie de Lange (known for Wolf Hall: The Mirror and The Light), Alfred Enoch (from The Couple Next Door), Lucian Msamati (who starred in Gangs of London), Jon Pointing (Big Boys), Tracy Ann-Oberman (Code 404), Annette Badland (Ted Lasso), Finty Williams (The A List), Joe McGann (Kaos), and Ingrid Oliver (Sweetpea).

The cast is really shaping up nicely! Beyond the leads, I’m excited to see some fantastic rising stars like Adrian Greensmith, who I really enjoyed in ‘Shelter,’ alongside Ellie Henry from ‘Hollyoaks,’ Maeve Courtier-Lilley of ‘Silent Witness,’ and the hilarious Amy Gledhill, known for ‘Alma’s Not Normal.’ They all bring something special to the table, and I think they’ll really elevate the project.

I’m a huge fan of Morgan Cormack’s work! She’s a Drama Writer at TopMob, and basically covers all things TV and streaming drama – which is perfect because that’s what I love! Before that, she was writing about entertainment at Stylist, and she’s also got a background in content marketing and freelancing. Plus, she studied English Literature, so she really knows her stuff when it comes to storytelling.
