Is Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny live?

Despite appearing live on New Year’s Eve – complete with a midnight countdown and ‘Auld Lang Syne’ – Jools Holland’s Hootenanny is actually filmed in December before the broadcast.
The BBC once called the Hootenanny the perfect New Year’s Eve party, saying its lineup was too good to actually happen on New Year’s Day.
This year’s Hootenanny will also feature performances by Lulu, Jessie J, The Kooks, Imelda May, Joe Webb, David Hermlin, and Ruby Turner.
