Tracy-Ann Oberman, who recently made a surprising comeback to EastEnders for the Christmas episodes, has hinted she might return to the show again before long.
Chrissie Watts recently returned to the show on Christmas Eve – her first appearance since September 2024 – but has already departed again, leaving trouble for Zoe Slater in her wake.
Recently, Adam Woodyatt (known as Ian Beale, or ‘Oberman’ to fans) posted a picture on Instagram with actress Ronni Ancona. Ancona is joining the cast of EastEnders and will play Bea, a friend from Linda Carter’s past.
Ancona starts filming in January, so it’s unlikely she and Oberman were ever on set at the same time. However, this might not be the last we see of the character Chrissie soon.

Lately on the show, Zoe’s mother, Kat Moon, believes Chrissie killed Dr. Trueman and is attempting to make it look like Zoe did it. Kat is now determined to find Chrissie. Will Kat succeed, and will she discover the truth about who’s responsible?
Oberman recently shared that she loved being back on the show earlier in 2024, especially working with Letitia Dean. When the show’s producer, Ben Wadey, invited her to return for a Christmas Day appearance, she happily accepted.
Chrissie is a fantastic character, really ingrained in the story, so I’m excited about bringing her back at Christmas and letting her cause some trouble.
Wadey hinted at the introduction of Bea, played by Ancona, during a press event for the upcoming Christmas episodes of EastEnders. He explained that he wanted a storyline with both tragic and comedic elements, and Bea will be revealed as an old friend of Linda’s.
As a film buff, I was immediately intrigued when Bea showed up. It turns out her recollection of Linda doesn’t match Linda’s own version of events – a fascinating disconnect that really pulls you in and makes you question everything.

As a big fan, I’m really excited about Bea’s character – she seems like someone who easily connects with others, and that’s exactly what happens when she reconnects with Linda. But it’s not just about them! The writers are planning a major storyline in the new year that will really focus on Billy and Honey too, and Bea’s arrival will definitely tie into all of that. It sounds like things are going to get interesting!
We all on the team genuinely enjoy this story. Every time we revisit it, whether we’re watching or reading, it consistently makes us laugh and cry – it’s a really heartwarming and fun experience.
