Season thirty-seven of The Simpsons is currently airing, and Fox has confirmed the show will continue with new seasons through at least season forty. A recent episode featured Homer Simpson working as a stunt double for Bumblebee Man and included a special nod to its Latin American audience, featuring the band Los Tigres Del Norte and Homer’s Latin American voice actor, Humberto Velez. While the episode was largely celebratory, one joke referenced a very controversial real-world event, which surprised some viewers.
Bart was thrilled to learn his dad was working with Bumblebee Man and wanted to share the news at school. However, Homer quickly dashed his hopes, explaining he’d signed a non-disclosure agreement and couldn’t reveal the details. Bart responded playfully, complaining that having someone so cool in the family was pointless if he couldn’t boast about it, then jokingly compared it to how the Mangione family must feel. This was a reference to Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing the CEO of United Healthcare, Brian Thompson. So far, the creators of The Simpsons haven’t commented on the joke, but it’s become a popular topic on social media.

The Simpsons & Controversy
Over its many years on television, The Simpsons has often sparked controversy. From early appearances by celebrities like Michael Jackson to episodes banned in other countries – like “Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo” and “Blame it on Lisa” – and even storylines like the fate of Frank Grimes, the show hasn’t shied away from pushing boundaries. Now, there’s a question about whether a recent joke involving Luigi Mangione will be removed from future broadcasts on both regular TV and Disney+. The Simpsons has been edited before, and we’ll keep you updated at egmr.ru if this joke is censored.
Despite recent discussions and challenges, The Simpsons is still planning to create many more episodes for the future. Beyond the new seasons coming to Fox, a sequel to The Simpsons Movie – currently titled The Simpsons Movie 2 – is scheduled for release on September 3, 2027. Although the story hasn’t been revealed yet, the first movie was a huge success, so the new film has a lot to live up to. Given the show’s history of tackling controversial topics, we can anticipate more challenges for the animated series before it ultimately concludes.
