A recent episode featured Homer Simpson working as a stunt double for Bumblebee Man and included a special nod to its Latin American audience, featuring the band Los Tigres Del Norte and Homer’s Latin American voice actor, Humberto Velez. While the episode was largely celebratory, one joke referenced a very controversial real-world event, which surprised some viewers.

Bart was thrilled to learn his dad was working with Bumblebee Man and wanted to share the news at school. However, Homer quickly dashed his hopes, explaining he’d signed a non-disclosure agreement and couldn’t reveal the details. Bart responded playfully, complaining that having someone so cool in the family was pointless if he couldn’t boast about it, then jokingly compared it to how the Mangione family must feel. This was a reference to Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing the CEO of United Healthcare, Brian Thompson. So far, the creators of The Simpsons haven’t commented on the joke, but it’s become a popular topic on social media.
