After 2 Years Away, The Best Fantasy Series On TV Will Return In 2026

Fantasy shows are incredibly popular on TV right now. Both Wednesday and The Rings of Power are starting their third seasons, and we can look forward to new Harry Potter and Magic the Gathering series soon. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a hit on Disney+, and HBO is continuing to build out the world of Game of Thrones.

There’s a lot of excellent live-action fantasy available, but don’t forget about animated options! Netflix’s Arcane has delivered two fantastic seasons, a sequel to The Dragon Prince called The Dragon King is coming soon, and Avatar: The Last Airbender is being revived on Paramount+. Plus, fans of fantasy have even more to look forward to – 2026 will bring back what many consider to be the best fantasy series on television.

The Legend Of Vox Machina Has A 2026 Release Window

Fans of Critical Role enjoyed a quick release of content during the first couple of years of The Legend of Vox Machina. Amazon immediately ordered two seasons, meaning season 2 arrived just a year after season 1. Although a third season was quickly confirmed, fans had to wait a bit longer—about 20 months passed between the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3.

Based on the current release schedule, the fourth season of The Legend of Vox Machina is likely to premiere around June 2026. However, the team at Critical Role has also been working on a new show, The Mighty Nein, which came out in late 2025. This means the next season of The Legend of Vox Machina might be delayed a bit. Despite this, it’s officially confirmed that new episodes will arrive in 2026, so fans can expect to see Vox Machina return within the next year.

The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 4 Will Set Up The Final Season

Amazon has renewed The Legend of Vox Machina for a fourth season and, surprisingly, also a fifth and final season to complete the story. This makes sense considering the current plot – season 3 ended with the main villain, The Whispered One, becoming a central threat after being hinted at throughout the first season.

Similar to how the story with Chroma Conclave lasted for two seasons, it looks like The Whispered One – the main villain of the show – will be the central focus of seasons 4 and 5 of The Legend of Vox Machina.

As a huge fan of The Legend of Vox Machina, I’m really hoping the final two seasons resolve a few key plot threads. I’m especially eager to see what happens with Keyleth and her Aramenté, the fallout from Vax’s deal with the Matron of Ravens, and, of course, whether Scanlan and Pike will finally get together! Those storylines feel so important to wrapping everything up nicely.

The Legend Of Vox Machina Is The Best Fantasy Show On TV Right Now

It’s hard to say if The Legend of Vox Machina is better than other fantasy TV shows right now, but it’s certainly among the best. It might be slightly ahead of The Mighty Nein because it feels more developed so far.

The Legend of Vox Machina is a compelling show that expertly combines emotional storytelling, well-developed characters built over years, a unique and funny dynamic between the actors, and a richly imagined world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and the creativity of Critical Role.

Fans of Critical Role will find The Legend of Vox Machina feels just like their original online campaign. But even if you’ve never heard of Matthew Mercer or the show’s origins, you can still fully enjoy it. As fantasy series become increasingly popular, The Legend of Vox Machina truly stands out for delivering everything fans love about the genre.
