Coronation Street favourite signs new deal for ITV soap after 25 years on the cobbles

Samia Longchambon has signed a new contract to continue playing Maria Connor.

The actress, who marked her 25th anniversary with the show last year, will continue playing her role as the soap opera moves forward.

A source told The Sun that “there’s so much more to come” for Maria.

This announcement coincides with the upcoming special episode where ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale will cross over, airing next Monday, January 5th.

The upcoming crossover event, nicknamed ‘Corriedale,’ will feature characters from both shows in a major car crash.

A serious crash involving multiple vehicles happened on a rural road near Hotten during a dark and stormy night, and people have been injured or killed.

Jack P. Shepherd, who plays David Platt, shared his reaction after finally seeing the crossover episode. He admitted he was still processing it, explaining that he’d only caught glimpses while filming his scenes. He clarified that the cast wasn’t involved in any of the stunts, which were performed by professional stunt drivers.
