Hideo Kojima, the well-known game director, recently gave an update on Physint, his next game which will be similar in style to the Metal Gear Solid series. He first revealed he was working on this new stealth-action title with PlayStation in 2024. Development has been quiet since then, as Kojima Productions was busy finishing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Now that Death Stranding 2 is out, Kojima has let fans know that significant progress on Physint will be made in the coming year.
I was really excited to see Kojima’s latest post on X! He basically laid out his plans for 2026, and it sounds amazing. OD is going to be the big focus for Kojima Productions, but he also emphasized that they’re putting a lot of effort into Physint too. He said they’re starting to cast actors for Physint and will be doing a lot more performance capture. Apparently, they’ve already got some cast members lined up, but they’re still looking for the perfect person to play the main character!
Things are a lot different for me this year compared to last. Last year I was constantly on the go, traveling everywhere. But this year, I’m really focusing on building a strong base and getting things properly set up. That means we’ll keep working on our horror game, OD, and we’re moving forward with Physint, our new espionage action title. We’re starting the pre-production stuff now – finding actors, doing the initial scans, and getting ready for performance capture sessions.
Physint Is Still Very Far Off From Releasing

It’s good to hear development on Physint is moving forward, but fans shouldn’t expect the game to be released for several years. Hideo Kojima and PlayStation previously stated Physint wouldn’t be available on current consoles, meaning it’s likely a PlayStation 6 game. The earliest we might see it released is 2027 or 2028.
The release of Physint might be further delayed, according to recent reports. If the PS6 launch is pushed back due to increased manufacturing costs, Physint may not be available to play until 2030 or later. However, even with a long wait for Physint, Kojima Productions is expected to release OD in the next few years to offer fans a new gaming experience.
