Olympian Tara Lipinski Details Daughter’s Emotional Skating Debut

Tara Lipinski is soaking up every stage her daughter Georgie goes through. 

Recently, the 1998 Nagano Olympics gold medalist shared her feelings as she watched her 2-year-old stepson take his first steps onto the ice for the very first time, accompanied by her husband, Todd Kapostasy.

In the interview with TopMob News, Tara excitedly shared, “Experiencing my two worlds intersecting was an incredible moment for me.” She admitted that she became quite emotional and wondered, “Why am I feeling so sentimental?” However, the joy of it all made it worthwhile, as her child affectionately calls her ‘skating mommy,’ which she appreciates at this time.

Tara, of course, would like her daughter Georgie to progress from bunny hops to triple axels in ice skating, but she’s not forcing her to do so. Instead, she’s giving Georgie the freedom to chart her own path on the ice.

Tara clarified that Georgie should discover what truly brings her joy, and she referred to this as “her unique passion.” She shared that it’s particularly meaningful for her, even more so during her youth, to introduce Georgie to her special spot.

Despite the enthusiasm the NBC Sports commentator feels for Georgie’s toddler phase, she acknowledges that getting a good night’s sleep has grown nearly as crucial to her as it was when she was a professional athlete.

In her athletic days, sleep was a vital aspect of her routine and training. Now, as a 43-year-old mom, she still values sleep deeply. After a tiring day, she retreats to her room, which she considers her peaceful haven.
