Following the positive reception of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory, Bandai Namco appears to be planning more Digimon video games.
Developing and releasing Time Stranger took about eight years, and the publisher wants to avoid such a long development process for future games.
It looks like Bandai is planning to do more with the Digimon franchise. Producer Ryosuke Hara shared this news with fans, offering a positive start to the new year.
In a recent 4Gamer interview (translated by Automaton), Bandai Namco’s Hara shared that the company is now prioritizing partnerships with Toei Animation and similar studios for Digimon projects.
He added that after eight years of work on Time Stranger, the Digimon team is finally growing and building a system that will allow for long-term, sustainable development.
That final bit of information is what Digimon fans will be most happy to hear. It suggests that if the publisher is willing to put more money into Digimon, they’re likely open to new ideas and projects – or may even be working on them already.
Hara mentioned the team is currently exploring several new ideas. While we shouldn’t expect any major announcements immediately – it could be years – it’s clear they’re making progress and working on things behind the scenes.
Okay, so I’m really excited to see Digimon getting more game attention! But seriously, what do you guys want to see in future Digimon games? What features, Digimon, or storylines are you hoping for? Let’s hear your thoughts – share your mega-level ideas in the comments!
