Be aware: This article reveals details from today’s episode of Emmerdale, which is currently airing on ITV1 at 7pm or available to stream on ITVX.
Laura Shaw, the producer of the show, has shared details about a surprising development that happened after John Sugden, played by Oliver Farnworth, was killed off.
The dramatic finale of the recent crossover between the two soaps showed the villain being killed by his sister, Vic (Isabel Hodgins). Yesterday’s episode detailed exactly how she did it.
After a crash involving several vehicles, he tried to escape and prevent her from speaking out, but during a fight, she stabbed him in the neck.
Unaware of being observed in the woods, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) secretly filmed her cleaning the weapon, carefully staging it to appear as if John had died by suicide.

Shaw says the real story behind John’s death will finally come out, exposing Victoria’s carefully constructed lie that made it appear as a suicide.
Joe Tate knows a damaging secret about the Sugdens and has video proof. He intends to use this information to get what he wants, and could end up taking ownership of Butler’s Farm.

She also teased that her brother Robert (Ryan Hawley) could try to cover her tracks.
“Robert is also in the thick of it, trying to save Victoria by planting evidence.”
The family worried it was only a matter of time before the police arrived to arrest her for what she’d done.
Vic was shocked to discover Joe only offered Robert a ride to the crash site if he gave up his share of Butler’s company. Joe then showed Vic a video and intends to use it to blackmail someone.

She only had two options – either hand over the farm for free, or he’d go to the police.
Joe later confided in Robert that he intended to falsely accuse Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) of involvement in Celia Daniels’s (Jaye Griffiths) human trafficking operation, and he offered to assist Robert in gaining complete ownership of the land.
Will Robert go through with it?
