Sony revealed a new line of cover plates for the PlayStation 5 this week, and they look fantastic.
The HYPERPOP collection, featuring DualSense controllers, uses bold, bright colors and a gradient effect, creating a look similar to negative images or X-rays.
Here’s the catch: these new console covers are designed just for the PS5 Slim, and won’t fit the PS5 Pro. PS5 Pro owners are beginning to accept this limitation.

One fan mentioned they initially thought it would be easy to create a protective plastic cover for all three of their gaming setups, but then realized that wasn’t the main point.
Another added: “Let me guess, PS5 Pro users get the short end of the stick yet again.”
Sony previously showed off custom covers for the PS5 Pro, like the one featuring Ghost of Yotei. However, it now seems they’ve decided making different faceplates for each console version isn’t worth the effort.
While the high-end version of the console probably appeals to a smaller group of users, those who do own it are passionate fans, and therefore more likely to spend extra money on things like custom console covers.
We believe the company will likely face further criticism if it doesn’t also offer these covers to people who own a PS5 Pro.
