A Major Shonen Hero is Set For a Fighting Game Crossover

For years, Shonen Jump manga and video games have been a great match. Popular manga like One Piece, Dragon Ball, and My Hero Academia have become successful games, and some game series, such as Dragon Quest, have even been adapted into manga in Weekly Shonen Jump. Now, something exciting is happening: a beloved character from Shonen Jump is about to join the world of a classic SNK fighting game in a unique crossover event.

A new trailer for an upcoming SNK game, likely Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, revealed a mysterious anime character. The fighter saved two children from bullies and then used a signature move – touching an opponent’s forehead – reminiscent of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, many believe Kenshiro will be a playable character in the game, and an announcement is expected soon. You can watch the trailer below to see the crossover for yourself.

Fist of the North Star’s Big Year

First appearing in 1983 in Weekly Shonen Jump, Fist of the North Star is a classic manga and anime series with a rich history. Although the original manga concluded in 1988, the story of Kenshiro has continued through numerous remakes, sequels, spin-offs, and even a live-action film. Now, TMS Entertainment is bringing the anime back with a new series featuring updated animation. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, an official description of the revival has been released, giving fans a preview of what’s to come.

In 199X, a nuclear war devastated the world, leaving the land in ruins and the oceans gone. Though most life was extinguished, some humans survived, struggling to find food and water. But hope is scarce, as violence rules and the strong prey on the weak. From this desperate world emerges Kenshiro, a man bearing seven scars and the master of the deadly Hokuto Shinken technique. He wanders the wasteland, seeking his enemy Shin, who kidnapped his beloved Yuria, and along the way, he helps those who are suffering, becoming a symbol of hope. He faces ruthless survivors, corrupted by their desire for power, and fights to protect the helpless in a world where cries for help often go unanswered. Kenshiro carves his path forward with strength and determination!
