Legion Pro gaming laptop concept is a shape‑shifting OLED — goes from 16 inches to 24 inches for an ultrawide experience

Lenovo unveiled the ThinkBook Plus Rollable at CES 2025, making it the first laptop of its kind with an AI-powered, rollable OLED screen. This innovative laptop can expand its standard 14-inch display to 16.7 inches by rolling it out, a feature developed over several years of research and design.

I’m really excited about Lenovo’s latest concept! They’re bringing rollable screens to their Legion Pro gaming laptops, which they showed off at CES 2026. What’s cool is that, unlike their ThinkBook Plus, this one expands *sideways*. Instead of going taller, the 16-inch screen rolls out to become either a massive 21.5-inch or even a 24-inch ultrawide display. It’s going to be amazing for immersive gaming!

This laptop is incredibly versatile thanks to a special design featuring two motors that keep it quiet and reduce vibrations. Lenovo explains that this design also keeps the OLED screen perfectly smooth, preventing wrinkles, reflections, and anything else that might be distracting.

One of my biggest concerns with the ThinkBook Rollable was the noticeable crease where the screen rolled up. I’m hoping Lenovo’s claims are accurate, because that same issue on a gaming monitor would be much more problematic.

Here’s the Legion Rollable Concept in its closed position. Despite having a rolling screen, it doesn’t appear much larger than a typical device.

The Lenovo Legion Rollable Concept functions just like a regular gaming laptop when you don’t need the extra screen.

Lenovo is promoting its new rollable Legion Pro concept as perfect for esports players who travel frequently and want to practice on the go. They see the standard 16-inch screen as a way to improve quick reactions – a ‘Focus Mode.’ Expanding to 21.5 inches – ‘Tactical Mode’ – is designed to enhance broader awareness, practice movements, and improve teamwork.

When fully extended to 24 inches – Lenovo calls this “Arena Mode” – it’s ideal for serious competitive practice, eliminating the need for a separate, larger monitor.

Since the Legion Pro Rollable builds on the powerful Legion Pro 7i – a gaming laptop we highly recommend and currently rank as one of the best – it delivers a similarly impressive level of performance and quality.

Lenovo is now featuring laptops with the newest, high-performance Intel Core Ultra processors and, for some models, up to an NVIDIA RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. However, I still recommend against buying the RTX 5090 for laptops. It’s significantly more expensive than the RTX 5080, but doesn’t offer a huge jump in performance.

The ThinkBook Plus Rollable is currently best suited for professionals who want a larger screen without a heavier laptop. I predict Lenovo’s next rollable design will appeal to a much wider audience, not just esports pros.

I often find gaming laptops lacking because of their screen size, which is why I usually go back to using my desktop and ultrawide monitor. I think this PC would be great for people who work remotely or who have limited desk space, as it offers a full-sized display without needing a large setup.

Since this is still a prototype, there’s no confirmed release date or price yet. It might become a real product eventually, similar to the ThinkBook Rollable, but we’ll have to wait and see what Lenovo decides.
