Disney Starts Hulu Phaseout Window Soon

It became clear last summer that the show wouldn’t last much longer, and Disney officially began the process of canceling it in October.

Nintendo recently announced that Hulu will no longer be supported on its Switch consoles beginning February 5, 2026. This information was posted on Nintendo’s official website.

Hulu is removing its app from the Nintendo Switch. It’s no longer available to download from the eShop, and support for the app will end on February 5, 2026.

Disney has been undergoing significant changes starting late last year. On October 8th, Star+ officially became Disney+’s hub for general entertainment content outside of the United States.

Major changes are coming to Disney’s streaming services after Disney fully takes over Hulu in June 2025. Following a long-awaited agreement with Comcast, Disney has announced it will discontinue Hulu as a separate service and app. All of Hulu’s content will move to Disney+, though Disney hasn’t announced a specific date for the transition, which is currently expected in early 2026.

Disney also announced that even if these services are bundled into a larger streaming package, customers will still have the option to subscribe to them individually.

Disney plans to launch a single, combined app experience by 2026. They say Disney+ users will start noticing improvements and updates to the app’s homepage and other areas as these changes are rolled out over time.

Disney+ Plans More AI Integration

Disney is updating its streaming service by combining it with Hulu and giving it a more visually appealing home screen. They’re also exploring ways to use artificial intelligence to improve the platform. These plans were announced in late 2025, and Disney is actively working to implement them.

Importantly, this process allows for creative control over the video’s mood, tone, and style, while also ensuring intellectual property is protected and all legal requirements are met.

Disney revealed a new collaboration with OpenAI in December 2025 that will let fans generate videos featuring over 200 characters.
