Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Star’s Season 2 Tease Hints At a Major Payoff

Following the huge popularity of its first season, Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is almost here! The voice actors and creators are building excitement among fans as the release date approaches, giving glimpses of what’s in store for the characters. The first season showed the end of Frieren’s adventure with Himmel’s group and the start of her new journey decades later. What makes the story so special is how it seamlessly blends current events with flashbacks, creating a rich and captivating narrative that moves between the past and present.

Frieren cherishes the memories of her old companions, but also forms new connections with Fern, Stark, and the people she meets on her travels. Fern and Stark have become her closest allies, joining her on a journey to Aureole, the resting place of souls. The series has sparked a lot of fan interest in potential romantic pairings, and Fern and Stark are a particularly popular choice. Recently, at a preview event, the voice actors hinted at a thrilling scene to anticipate in the upcoming season.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Has Something Special in Store For Fern and Stark

Kana Ichinose, who voices the character Fern, recently shared her excitement about a scene between Fern and Stark. According to Mantan Web, she described the interaction as “cute” and expressed anticipation for viewers to see it.

Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Frieren, mentioned that her co-star, Sein, jokingly urged Fern and Stark to start dating. However, she believes their relationship has actually progressed further than that since the very beginning of the series.

The voice acting doesn’t reveal much about what’s happening in this scene, but it seems likely to subtly shift the dynamic between the two characters. They’ve already shared some sweet moments throughout the first season, and even a supporting character, the priest Sein, seemed to be rooting for them to get together! Season 2 will definitely focus on their interactions, but also promises more excitement as Frieren’s group faces bigger obstacles on their journey to Aureole. Tanezaki hints that their teamwork will really stand out as the battles become more difficult.

I’ve learned that the new anime will start streaming on Crunchyroll on January 16th, 2026, though they haven’t announced the exact time yet. We’ll probably find out when the English dub will be available a couple of weeks after it first airs. Even though the manga is currently paused, you can still read all the released chapters for free on Viz Media’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End website – you’ll also find links there if you want to purchase the physical books or digital copies. There are currently 14 volumes available in English, and while Volume 15 came out in Japan last December, we’re still waiting to hear when it will be released internationally.
