‘Pluribus’ Golden Globe Winner Rhea Seehorn Says Show Will Return “As Fast As We Can”

I’m so excited to hear Rhea Seehorn give an update on season two of Pluribus! That first season ended on such a strange note, and I’ve been waiting ever since. It’s amazing to me that this show was created by Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad. The premise is just so clever – Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, who’s one of the few people unaffected by this alien mind control that’s taken over everyone else. And get this – Pluribus was actually named MovieWeb‘s best TV show of 2025, even beating out the second seasons of Severance and Andor! I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Rhea Seehorn, who won Best Actress for a TV drama series at the Golden Globe Awards last weekend, told Deadline that her hit show will return eventually, when the timing is right.

Gilligan is eager to get the show back on the air as quickly as possible, and he’s not deliberately delaying it. He just wants to make sure it’s done right and gives his fans and followers the quality story they deserve. We’re working to bring it back as soon as we can.

I avoid reading fan theories online because I’m sensitive and don’t want to see negative comments. Because of that, I’m not really aware of what people are saying. It’s been amusing and sometimes really heartwarming to hear what others think, though. Someone recently suggested the whole show is a representation of grief and depression – like being stuck in a dark place where you can’t hear encouragement and feel completely isolated.

The actress also discussed her character’s sexuality, emphasizing how meaningful it was to represent the LGBTQ+ community. However, she also stressed that this aspect wasn’t the most important or defining characteristic of the character, Carol.

This story is deeply personal to the character, and the loss of her wife is so impactful because their relationship was built on genuine love. The creator isn’t trying to make a point about politics; he simply wants to explore what it means to be human and to depict a true love story. I’m especially proud that this story centers around a queer woman.

After the first season of Pluribus finished around Christmas, Entertainment Weekly spoke with Gilligan about what’s coming next in the story, following the dramatic nuclear bomb threat made by Carol.

We’re making progress, but it’s a slow process. I wish we could work faster! I’m incredibly grateful for the positive response to the show. While we appreciate the fans’ enthusiasm, we’ve always found it best to focus on creating the show itself, rather than getting caught up in external reactions – whether good or bad.

We were among the very first to enjoy this show, and we always prioritize our own satisfaction while creating it. We’ve found the best way to tell a story is to focus on the original creative process, as if we were still making it just for ourselves.
