Crunchyroll is having a huge month for anime, arguably one of its biggest ever. Popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, Oshi no Ko, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End are all releasing new episodes, but a surprising new series is also gaining a lot of buzz. Currently ranking high on IMDB, this anime features a unique world where no one wants to be a hero. After a strong debut, a new preview offers a glimpse of the upcoming second episode and what’s to come later in the season.
The anime Sentenced To Be a Hero centers around Xylo Forbatz, who is falsely accused of a crime. The story takes place in a world where ‘heroes’ gain immortality to battle dangerous threats, often caused by powerful ‘demon lords’ who warp the land and turn animals into destructive weapons. In the first episode, Xylo encounters a ‘goddess’ – a magical being able to fight these forces, but only if he makes a deal with her. Now in a desperate situation, Xylo agrees and seeks revenge on those who framed him. A new poster and a preview of season two suggest that new characters will join Xylo on his quest.

Here’s a preview of episode 2 of the TV anime Brave Punishment*! Episode #02, “Punishment: Leading the Zeowan=Gan Pit Control,” features a special promotional video written by Rocket Company. What Makes This Hero Appealing?
The first episode of Sentenced To Be a Hero’s quickly gained popularity as one of January’s most promising new anime. It introduced viewers to Xylo and his team of adventurers, all brought to life with impressive animation by Studio Kai. The series adapts a novel from 2020, focusing on Xylo’s difficult situation and the extraordinary powers he receives from the goddess Teoritta. Xylo’s relationship with divine beings is complicated, as he was punished for killing a previous goddess he served.
The first season of the new anime will have twelve episodes, but given the source material – the novels and manga – and its growing popularity, it’s likely to get a second season.
