Shonen Jump Is Ending Yet Another Series This Month

2026 is starting off with some disappointing news for manga fans. Shonen Jump has announced that a second series will be ending this month, just days after the surprising conclusion of Ryota Killed His Brother, which ran for over a year. And now, Re/Member: The Last Night – a sequel to the well-known horror series Karada Sagashi – will also be finishing up before the end of January. The Karada Sagashi franchise is popular among horror fans and includes manga, anime, and live-action adaptations.

The series started in June of last year and will finish with its 24th chapter, planned for release on January 27, 2026. This information comes from @WSJ_manga on X, a trusted source for Shonen Jump news. The Re/Member: The Last Night, Karadasagashi franchise has been running for more than ten years, and past installments usually lasted between 20 and 40 chapters. Because this new series is ending after only 24 chapters, it likely wasn’t cancelled, but was always intended to be a shorter story.

What Is Re/Member: The Last Night About?

This manga is based on Welzard’s original web novel, Karada Sagashi, which ran for 8 volumes between 2013 and 2015. Katsutoshi Murase, the artist from the previous installments, is back with his signature detailed and often graphic style. The story picks up right after the events of both the original Karada Sagashi web novel and the 2022 Netflix movie, Re/Member. This new manga adapts the sequel film, scheduled for release in September 2025.

Harumi Doki, a writer known for her work on Ultraman and Pokémon Concierge, wrote the screenplay. She’s working with Yuki Hara, a famous animator who has contributed to shows like Bakemonogatari, Nisekoi, and Evangelion. The story follows a group of students stuck repeating the same day after running a haunted house at their school festival. They think other students are staying away because of the sign – “Re/Member” – which is a local legend about being brutally attacked by a ghostly girl.

Following their school culture day, a group of students encounter a mysterious girl at an amusement park who they think is lost. When they try to help her, she urgently asks them to locate her body, warning that otherwise, they’ll find themselves somewhere terrible. Soon, the girl’s ghost begins haunting them, picking them off one by one. After a series of frightening events, the students realize they’re trapped in a time loop, and the story of “Re/Membering” is actually true.
