Yakuza 3 Remastered Will Not be Available to Buy After Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties Releases

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced that the current version of Yakuza 3 available on digital platforms will no longer be sold once Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties is released on February 12th. However, players who already own Yakuza 3 Remastered will still be able to access and play it.

If you’re new to the Yakuza series and want to play Yakuza 3 Remastered after trying Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, it will only be available as part of the Yakuza Complete Series bundle.

We’re really focused on making sure Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties feels fresh and true to what we imagined, and we’re hoping you guys are going to love the new experiences we’ve created. That’s what we’ve been aiming for!

If you already have Yakuza 3 Remastered, you can keep playing it as usual. If you’re new to the series and want to try the original version, it’s included in the Yakuza Complete Series bundle.

This is the first time in the Yakuza series that a remake (Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties) will come out while the remastered original is still available. Previous remakes, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2, didn’t have their original games on current consoles – the original Yakuza and Yakuza 2 have remained on the PS2 since their initial release.

Before its launch next month, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties will have a free demo available. Sega hasn’t announced when the demo will be released or on which gaming systems you’ll be able to play it.

Following the events of Yakuza Kiwami 2, Kiryu attempts to leave his life of crime behind and enjoy a peaceful existence running an orphanage in Okinawa with his adopted daughter, Haruka. However, his connections to the criminal underworld resurface, compelling him to return to Kamurocho to protect the orphanage and those he cares for.

The remake of Yakuza 3 will largely follow the original story, but it will include extra content like new side missions, activities, and more ways to interact with the orphanage. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release will also feature an expanded story for the character Yoshitaki Mine through the Dark Ties expansion.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recently shared a detailed overview of new activities and karaoke tracks. You can find more information about the Morning Glory orphanage there, as well as exclusive content for the Dark Ties storyline called Kanda Damage Control and the activities it includes.
