How to Get Gold in Hytale

In Hytale, gold is a valuable metal to collect, especially if you plan on crafting potions and elixirs.

You’ll need Gold Ingots to build the Alchemist’s Workbench, which means you can’t begin your alchemy journey until you’ve obtained some gold.

Let me quickly explain how to find and refine Gold Ore to assist you on your journey.

Where to Find and How to Use Gold Ore

You can find Gold Ore in two main areas of Hytale. One is the desert, called the Howling Sands. It’s easy to spot on the map because of its yellow sand, like in the picture above.

Gold ore is uncommon in this area, but you might still discover it exposed on the surface. Check mountain peaks and cliff sides to find it.

Just to emphasize, gold ore remains quite scarce in this area. However, this is the first point in the game where you can find it, making it your best source until you get to the snowy region later on.

Okay, so once you finally get to the Whisperfrost Frontiers – that snowy area – you can start finding more Gold Ore! Keep an eye out for it in the snowy mountains; they should show up on your map just like in the picture I’ve seen.

Okay, so finding Gold Ore here isn’t exactly a walk in the park, kinda like trying to find it in the desert. But don’t worry, I’ve noticed it mostly around the mountainsides and inside any caves I stumble across. It’s there, you just gotta look!

Good news! Gold Ore is actually easier to find in the snowy mountains because its golden color really pops against the dark rocks. You can also mine Cobalt Ore in this area.

How to Smelt the Gold Ore

Now that you’ve collected some Gold Ore, you’ll need to use a Furnace to refine it. You likely already have one, but if not, you can craft it at a Workbench using 6 Tree Trunks and 6 Stones – any type of each will work.

Next, place the Gold Ore and a fuel source, like Sticks, into the Furnace. Turn the Furnace on and wait for the Gold Ore to be smelted into Gold Ingots. You can then use these Ingots to craft items!
