A key feature is that they’ll process AI tasks directly on the device, rather than relying on a cloud connection.
According to a new report from Taiwan, OpenAI is considering Luxshare, a Chinese company, to handle manufacturing. However, they might ultimately choose Foxconn, a Taiwanese manufacturer. OpenAI is aiming to ship between 40 and 50 million devices during the first year of sales.
OpenAI might be trying to connect directly with its users, similar to how Google uses Android, by releasing new devices for its AI technology and ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT is incredibly popular with nearly a billion weekly users, it’s still unclear if people will switch to using OpenAI’s new AI earbuds instead of their current options.
