The series The Rip centers on Lt. Dane Dumars (Matt Damon) and Detective Sgt. JD Byrne (Ben Affleck) and their team in the Miami-Dade Police Department’s narcotics unit. While executing a raid, they find millions of dollars in a dilapidated building and decide to keep the money for themselves.

When questions about their behavior surface at the police department, the team begins to distrust each other, suspecting a mole is among them. The Rip could have easily been a formulaic and predictable action film—and it occasionally slips into familiar tropes—but it’s become one of Netflix’s most pleasant surprises lately.

Featuring strong performances from Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Teyana Taylor, and Steven Yeun, The Rip truly shines thanks to the undeniable chemistry between Damon and Affleck. The film’s suspenseful mood is heightened by its contained, claustrophobic setting and tightly focused storyline.

As a film buff, I found The Rip really pulls you in – it’s one of those movies where you’re constantly second-guessing everyone and trying to figure out who the good guys actually are. Beyond that, it’s just a thrilling ride with some fantastic action, a compelling mystery, and enough twists and turns to keep you hooked right through to the very end.

I’ve always been so impressed by the bond between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck – it’s clear they’re not just friends, but truly inspiring collaborators. Everyone remembers when they really broke through with Good Will Hunting back in 1997, and it’s amazing to think they wrote that incredible film themselves! Seeing Matt play Will Hunting and Ben as his friend was just fantastic, and it launched both of their careers.

Ever since they first worked together, audiences have eagerly anticipated any project involving Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, whether they’re writing, producing, or starring in it. Their collaborations span many genres, including historical dramas like The Last Duel, the comedic fantasy Dogma, and the biographical drama Air.

The collaboration between Affleck and Damon in The Rip once again demonstrates their versatility and ability to translate their natural chemistry into compelling characters, no matter the dynamic between them.

As of today, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon aren’t currently filming anything together where they’ll both appear on screen. But they do have another project in the works! It’s a crime thriller called Animals, and Ben’s directing it. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray, which is really exciting to me as a fan of their work together.

I just saw Animals, and it’s a really tense thriller. Ben Affleck plays Milo Bradford, a guy running for mayor of Los Angeles, and his world gets turned upside down when his son is kidnapped. He and his wife have a very limited time to raise the ransom money, but with most of their funds tied up in his campaign, they’re forced to do some pretty desperate – and morally questionable – things. It’s a gripping story about how far parents will go, and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

Matt Damon is a producer on the film Animals, and while he doesn’t appear in it, there’s a chance he might make a surprise, uncredited appearance. Meanwhile, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are still celebrating the huge success of The Rip.
