3 Ways Yuji Has Overtaken Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen and Modulo manga!

Jujutsu Kaisen has quickly become a standout anime and manga series for a new generation of fans. One of the biggest topics of discussion is how the characters’ power levels grow and compare. The series features many strong characters, all built around the ideas of sorcerers and cursed energy, which makes each one unique. Gojo Satoru, in particular, has become incredibly popular, known for both his immense power and his captivating personality.

Now that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has finished, many fans believe Yuji Itadori has become the strongest character, taking that title from Gojo Satoru after defeating Sukuna. The continuation of the story in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo highlights Yuji’s immense power and confirms he’s surpassed his teacher, Gojo, in several ways. Three specific areas demonstrate just how much Yuji has grown beyond Gojo’s abilities.

3) Brute Strength

Yuji has always been incredibly athletic, even before learning about jujutsu. This natural strength became his most prominent quality once he started training, and he quickly became known for his powerful physical attacks. His mastery of the Black Flash technique took his fighting ability to the next level, making him particularly dangerous in hand-to-hand combat.

Gojo was known for his incredibly accurate control of cursed energy, boosted by his Six Eyes. Though he was a powerful fighter, he didn’t rely on sheer strength. In contrast, Yuji has the potential to become far stronger thanks to years of training and a body that doesn’t age. The sequel highlights this by showing him easily perform the difficult technique, Black Flash, demonstrating a level of raw power that surpasses Gojo’s.

2) Precision of the Cursed Energy

Gojo’s incredible control over cursed energy, giving him what seemed like limitless power, came from his Six Eyes. While his control and efficiency were undeniably impressive, Yuji has recently shown a similar level of precision with his own cursed energy, as seen in the Modulo arc.

Mino observed that he couldn’t detect Yuji’s cursed energy until Yuji actively focused it into his fist, highlighting how skillfully Yuji controls his power. Yuji’s ability to reach this level is unique because he mastered control independently, whereas Gojo relied on his Six Eyes for precision. Given enough time to continue improving, Yuji’s control over cursed energy will likely exceed Gojo’s.

1) Yuji Recreated the Limitless Phenomenon Without the Six Eyes

Gojo’s most famous power, Limitless, made him impossible to touch, thanks to his unique Six Eyes. Now, in the continuation of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji has also become untouchable – even physical attacks pass right through him. This implies Yuji has developed a similar ability to Gojo’s, despite not having the Six Eyes.

It’s still unclear how Yuji Itadori developed this new ability, but it likely connects to the technique he inherited from Sukuna, possibly adapting Sukuna’s slicing attacks for defense. Or, if Yuji has actually managed to copy the Limitless technique without the Six Eyes, that would put him in a completely different class of power. Regardless, this demonstrates that Yuji has surpassed Gojo in this area. Considering he has many years ahead of him to improve, Yuji has cemented his place as the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, exceeding both Gojo and Sukuna. He combines the best qualities of both, while still maintaining his own impressive physical abilities.
