Razer, known as one of the leading brands in PC gaming, enjoys a great reputation that allows for numerous partnerships with well-known brands and series, among them being Pokémon – the captivating creature collection phenomenon cherished by millions, including myself.
Previously, Razer’s partnerships with Pokémon were limited to particular areas, excluding many fans from enjoying the fun. However, now Razer has teamed up with Pokémon for a comprehensive line of PC gaming accessories that a wider audience can purchase. But the question remains, is it worth spending your money on this equipment?
I’ve had the opportunity to personally handle the new Razer x Pokémon line, showcasing famous creatures from the initial series… however, I must admit that I feel a tad let down by their designs. Whether or not you should invest in these items with your valuable money is ultimately up to you.
Unboxing the Razer x Pokémon Collection

When I had the opportunity to handle the Razer x Kuromi Collection, I appreciated the designs but found their entry-level accessories lacking. Moving on to the Razer x Minecraft Collection, which I unfortunately couldn’t personally inspect, Razer stepped up a level, offering accessories that would appeal more to serious gamers.
The fresh Razer x Pokémon Lineup sports the familiar accessories reimagined, sporting completely new motifs centered around iconic characters like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander from the initial 151 Pokémon of the Kanto region.
The unpacking process for this model is just like the regular versions, but it comes with eye-catching boxes that will make a great addition to any collection.
Here’s what the new collection includes:
- Razer Kraken V4 X Pokémon Edition for $99.99 at Razer (instead of $79.99 for the standard version)
- Razer Cobra Pokémon Edition for $59.99 at Razer (instead of $39.99 for the standard version)
- Razer Gigantus V2 Pokémon Edition (Medium) for $29.99 at Razer (instead of $9.99 for the standard version)
- Razer BlackWidow V4 X for $169.99 at Razer (instead of $129.99 for the standard version)
When you opt for Razer accessories featuring the Pokémon design that aligns with Minecraft, you’re looking at an approximately $100 increase in total cost compared to purchasing regular Razer items. This price hike is due to licensing agreements associated with brands like Pokémon. Personally, I’m not fond of spending three times as much for the mouse pad and 50% more for the mouse just because they carry these specific designs.
Simply bear in mind that the vibrant design options will come at an additional cost, as they are not included in the budget pricing.
Going hands-on with these colorful accessories

Although I’d prefer Razer to add more playfulness to their premium items, the Pokémon Collection features several admired, high-performing wired accessories, all boasting customizable RGB illumination.
The products in question – the Kraken V4 X headset, Cobra mouse, and BlackWidow V4 X keyboard – perform as expected for their price range. However, if you choose to spend more, it’s primarily for the added Pokémon skin design.
Just like other exclusive product lines, Razer didn’t skimp on craftsmanship by applying a low-quality finish and considering their work done. Instead, it appears that the build quality is robust, ensuring that the Pokémon designs, which you’ve invested in, won’t be compromised with extended use.

Among all of them, I strongly prefer the Razer Kraken V4 X. Its vibrant and attention-grabbing yellow color, combined with less flashy Pokémon designs that showcase the faces of Kanto’s three (or four, depending on whom you talk to) starters, really stands out.
Instead of it, I find the Razer BlackWidow V4 X to be my least preferred choice. While it does feature a “Pokémon” logo on the space bar and Pokéballs on the “Alt” keys, most of its design is taken up by various disconnected Pokémon heads with little else to offer.
Razer could’ve done better with this collection in general, design-wise.
Overcoming the challenge of distinct design

When my coworker tried out the Razer x Minecraft Collection, he highly commended the BlackWidow V4 X as one of the most attractive keyboards he’s encountered. I concur – Razer truly excelled with that design, featuring a full set of green keycaps and delightful Easter eggs.
In contrast, the Pokémon Collection appears to be a regression. This is due to the challenge of fitting and representing four unique creatures on a single item, which leads to a monotonous pattern with limited opportunities for individualistic design.
The Kraken V4 X and its Cobra accessories stand out due to their strategic application of a repeated design featuring Pokémon faces floating over a bright yellow base. However, it leaves me curious if Razer could have pushed this design concept even more.
Given that you’re already spending 25-200% extra on Pokémon versions of these PC gaming accessories, it seems reasonable to ask for additional features such as custom keycaps in the shape of beloved Pokémon characters or distinctive designs tailored to each accessory.
Despite that, this is an enjoyable assortment for Pokémon enthusiasts, be it to expand the collection or customize your gaming environment. If you’re intrigued by any of these items, consider buying them immediately from Razer at prices starting from $29.99 in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
