Home of Savannah Guthrie’s Sister Searched Amid Mom’s Disappearance

The search for Savannah Guthrie‘s mom Nancy Guthrie continues.

On February 7th, the FBI and local sheriff’s deputies revisited the Arizona property of the 84-year-old woman who is missing. They also searched the home of her daughter, Annie Guthrie, according to authorities who spoke with Today. A spokesperson explained that these searches are a routine part of the investigation.

A car believed to belong to Nancy was also towed out of her garage, footage obtained by Today showed.

According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, Nancy was last seen having dinner at a relative’s house on the evening of January 31st. During a press conference on February 5th, Sheriff Nanos explained that after dinner and games, a family member drove Nancy home around 10 p.m. local time. She was reported missing the next day, February 1st.

The sheriff clarified on social media February 4th that, contrary to some reports, investigators haven’t identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case.

Oh my gosh, this is just… I can’t even. While everyone’s still desperately looking for Savannah, Annie and her brother Camron Guthrie actually responded to someone who claimed to have information about her! Like, they think they’ve heard from whoever might be holding her captive! I’m on the edge of my seat, hoping it’s a real lead and Savannah is coming home soon. It’s just…so much!

Oh my gosh, I just saw the video Savannah posted on Instagram! It broke my heart. She and her siblings were holding hands, and she just pleaded with whoever has their mom to please, please bring her back. She said it’s the only way they can have any peace and celebrate with her. It was so raw and emotional, I’m just praying they get their mom back. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through!

“This is very valuable to us,” the 54-year-old continued, “and we will pay.”

I’m just beside myself with worry! It’s been two whole days since Camron said they haven’t gotten anything from whoever took Nancy. Nothing at all since February 1st, when she first disappeared. It’s just… awful. I keep checking for updates, hoping for some sign, anything, but it’s like they vanished into thin air. I’m so worried about her and her family, it’s all I can think about.

In a video posted to Instagram on February 5th, he pleaded with whoever was holding their mother to make contact. “We haven’t received any direct communication,” he said, “and we need to establish a way to communicate so we can resolve this situation.”

She added, “Before anything else, we need to confirm you have our mother. We’d like to speak with you and are waiting for you to reach out.”

Camron said that he and his family hadn’t received any communication from the people who might have taken Nancy since she was first reported missing on February 1st.

As a family, we’re desperately trying to connect with whoever has our mother. We shared a message online hoping they’ll reach out directly. We really need to open a line of communication so we can start working towards bringing her home. It’s incredibly difficult not knowing, and we’re pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

She added, “First, we need to confirm you have our mother. We’d like to speak with you and are waiting for you to reach out.”

Nancy’s children had shared a video before where they talked about telling authorities about a suspicious note, while also expressing their feelings about their mother being missing.

In a video posted on Instagram on February 4th, Savannah shared that her family is doing everything possible to resolve the situation. They are willing to communicate, but they need absolute proof that the person they’re looking for is still alive and in the possession of whoever has her.

Police say 84-year-old Joan Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend became worried when Nancy didn’t attend church that morning and let her family know. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted the authorities around noon to report her missing.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.

It’s unusual for the sheriff to be called to a situation like this, but the details emerging from the house are very troubling,” he explained to reporters on February 2nd. “This case was particularly noteworthy due to what officers described and what we discovered at the scene.

This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called to investigate when someone dies. In this case, though, we sent them based on what the land surveyors reported.”

After looking into what happened, officials stated they think a crime occurred at Nancy’s house.

As a long-time supporter of our local police, I was really struck by what Officer Nanos said in the press conference on February 2nd. They explained that, after carefully examining the area, they’ve confirmed it is a crime scene. What I appreciated most was the direct appeal for help from the community – and their confidence in us. This area has always come together to assist in solving difficult cases, and they’re hoping we’ll do that again now. It’s reassuring to know they trust our involvement.

The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking on her own – she couldn’t walk even a short distance without help – and this led him to suspect something wasn’t right with her disappearance.

He stated definitively, “She didn’t simply walk away from there.” He went on to explain that evidence at the location suggests she didn’t leave by her own volition.

The search for Nancy is ongoing, and officials are concerned because she requires daily medication to stay healthy, and she doesn’t have it with her.

During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health problems and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could be life-threatening.

We’re asking anyone with information about this case – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.

Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp and capable.

According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally sound and this isn’t related to dementia. She’s still very sharp. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations are simply due to her age.

With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.

“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.

In a statement to NBC’s morning show on February 2nd, she expressed her family’s gratitude for all the support, prayers, and kind messages they’ve received. Their main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.

She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show publicly expressed their support.

Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally close to Nancy and expressed her affection for her.

She continued, saying they were deeply thinking of Savannah and her family, and sending their prayers to everyone affected.

Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.

She felt the show was at its strongest when it called on viewers to help, asking them to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information about the case, even if it seemed insignificant.

She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”

Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.

On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the phone number for the authorities.

Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message on Instagram from February 2nd, Hoda posted a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be concerned for their safety.

At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but cautioned that the investigation was still ongoing and much work remained.

Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure her well-being.

The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.

As a concerned follower of this case, I’ve been following the updates closely. The Sheriff’s Office now believes she was likely taken from her home against her will, probably while she was asleep. They’re actively investigating it as a possible kidnapping, and have been since February 2nd. It’s incredibly worrying, and I’m hoping they find her soon.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.

In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing about the power of prayer and the importance of coming together with love and hope. She expressed a belief in goodness, humanity, and, most importantly, in God.

Savannah continued, expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers for her mother, Nancy. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.

She added, “we need you.”

To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.

She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.’ She felt this message resonated for everyone, now and always.

Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.

We collected samples and are hopeful they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re investigating,” he said in a report shared on Today, February 3.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to convince whoever had taken their mother, Nancy, to bring her home safely.

In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the need for absolute certainty that their loved one is alive and in the possession of those they are communicating with, given how easily videos and audio can be altered today.

My mom is the center of our world and our safe place, but she’s very sick. Her heart is weak, and she’s in constant pain. She doesn’t have the medication she desperately needs to stay alive and feel better.

The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”

Look, whoever has her… my mom… we’re just begging you to please contact us. It’s been awful, not knowing anything at all. We just need to hear something, anything, so we can start figuring out what to do. Just reach out – we need a way to talk to you, please!

During a press conference on February 5th, FBI Special Agent Heith Janke stated that authorities are treating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ as very serious. However, he also noted that the Guthrie family is still awaiting further contact from the individuals involved.
