A popular Capcom game, and one of the best survival-horror titles on the PlayStation 5, no longer works properly on the PS5 Pro. While it’s not unheard of for games to lose PS5 Pro support, it’s unusual, and usually happens when the Pro version has serious issues. This time, it seems to be an accidental oversight, so a future update should likely fix the problem.
Just to clarify, Resident Evil Village still works on the PS5 Pro, just like all other PS5 games. However, the special improvements made for the PS5 Pro have been taken out. If you’re playing on a PS5 Pro, it’s best to wait for the next update, as the recent one removed those enhancements, making the game look and run the same as on a regular PS5. Also, the option to unlock the frame rate has been removed.
Capcom Responds to PS5 Pro Issue
As a big PS5 Pro fan, I was really excited about the recent updates to the game, but it seems like something went wrong. It took a while, but people started noticing issues with the enhancements over the last couple of days. Luckily, Capcom is aware of it now and is working on a fix, but they haven’t given us a timeframe for when we can expect it yet. It’s a bit frustrating, but at least they’re on it!
Occasionally, planned improvements for the PS5 Pro have been taken out of games because of technical problems. However, this is the first time we’ve encountered a situation where these enhancements were unintentionally removed by a game update.
Bad Timing for PS5 Pro Users
It’s unfortunate timing for PlayStation 5 Pro owners, as the new Resident Evil Requiem is coming out later this month. Players hoping to replay Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village on their PS5 Pro before the release will have to play an older, lower-quality version of Village. It’s uncertain whether Capcom will release an update to fix this before February 27th, as updates cost money. While a fix seems straightforward, it’s unclear if Capcom will release one specifically for this issue or bundle it into a larger future update. The good news is that Resident Evil Requiem will be fully optimized for the PS5 Pro from the start, offering exclusive improvements.
