Horizon 3 Could Launch in 3 to 5 Years, Most Staff Pulled to Work on Hunters Gathering – Rumor

While fans were excited about the announcement of Horizon Hunters Gathering as officially part of the Horizon story, that excitement was dampened by news that it will be Guerrilla Games’ primary focus for the near future. Although the studio has promised to continue making single-player games, it appears the next major single-player Horizon title is still quite a ways off – likely several years.

A source told Kotaku that developers working on Horizon 3 were shifted to assist with Hunters Gathering. This is reminiscent of what happened at BioWare, where the Dragon Age team was moved to work on Anthem. Another source suggests the sequel might not be released for three to five years.

I’ve been hearing rumors that the PlayStation 6 might come out in 2027, and it’s making me wonder if Horizon 3 is being built for that console. But honestly, I don’t think that means we won’t see it on the PS5. Remember how Horizon Forbidden West came out on both PS4 and PS5 in 2022? I’m guessing Sony will do the same thing with future games, like Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic, releasing them on multiple platforms.

Later this month, a closed playtest for Horizon Hunters Gathering will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PC, letting players try out three different Hunters. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, Guerrilla has promised to continue supporting the game after launch with new story content.
