5 Emmerdale spoilers next week: Bear Wolf arrested as Laurel Thomas learns a shocking secret

Following Ray Walters’s death in Emmerdale, Bear Wolf will be questioned by the police next week as part of the investigation.

He insists he acted alone, but Detective Sergeant Walsh suspects Paddy Dingle might be involved. Meanwhile, as Paddy faces a manslaughter charge, Cain Dingle is hopeful this could help secure his wife Moira’s freedom.

Unfortunately, it does the complete opposite.

Arthur Thomas is planning to leave for Australia, but his mother, Laurel, recently found out where he got the money. Elsewhere, Dawn and Joe might be expecting a baby, and a fancy new car has arrived in the village, causing quite a stir.

Here’s a rundown of what’s happening on Emmerdale from Monday, February 16th to Friday, February 20th.

5 Emmerdale spoilers for next week

1. Bear Wolf is charged with manslaughter

Realizing the police were closing in, Bear admitted to Detective Sergeant Walsh that he’d accidentally killed Ray. He claimed he acted alone, wanting to protect his devastated friends, Paddy and Dylan Penders (known as Fred Kettle), from getting involved.

Walsh observes that Bear seems a little disoriented, but Bear firmly maintains he was alone and gets visibly upset when pressed. When Walsh brings up Moira, Bear is surprised to learn that Cain attempted to pressure him into telling the police she hadn’t been involved.

In the village, Marlon tries to reassure Paddy that the police will understand his father acted in self-defense, believing he was a desperate man. Marlon is also concerned about getting involved, and his worries increase when Walsh sees him backing up Bear’s story. Walsh points out that Bear, being so frail, couldn’t have moved a body on his own.

Detective Chen brought Bear and Dylan in for more questioning, which resulted in Bear being charged with manslaughter. The family’s lawyer suggested Bear might be released on bail, offering them some hope.

But when they suggested this plan to Bear, he chose to take responsibility and accept whatever happened as a result.

Is Paddy about to lose his father all over again?

2. Cain Dingle’s efforts destroy Moira’s hopes of freedom

Cain feels a flicker of hope when Liam reveals that Bear has admitted to Ray’s murder.

I’m really hoping this new lead will help Moira. Cain’s desperate to prove she didn’t do what they’re accusing her of, and this feels like a real chance. He went to see her in prison, and he was about to tell her about what’s been going on with his health, but a fight broke out between some of the prisoners and completely ruined the visit.

Shaken and unsure what to do, he loses his nerve. Rather than reveal his own upsetting news, he impulsively shares Bear’s secret, desperately hoping it will lead to her release.

The following day, she was devastated and angry to find out Cain had pressured Bear, and his confession hadn’t improved her situation at all. Noticing how stressed Cain was, she carefully encouraged him to talk about what was bothering him.

Returning to Butler’s Farm, Cain is furious to discover Joe lounging on his sofa – it’s the last thing he can take. He immediately confronts Joe, grabbing his collar, but Matty Barton steps in to separate them, and admits he was the one who allowed Joe onto the property.

Matty believes Cain needs to stop constantly causing problems and focus on being there for his wife.

Joe later reveals to Kim Tate that they’ll soon own Butler’s Farm. Meanwhile, Ruby Miligan, feeling incredibly guilty, admits to Cain that she was the one who alerted the police to Anya’s body.

Cain is shocked and furious, immediately blaming her and her half-brother Caleb for involving the police and essentially abandoning Moira. He now views Caleb’s offer to cover Moira’s legal fees not as a kind gesture, but as an attempt to buy his way out of guilt.

Sarah Sugden begs her grandfather to let the people who care about him support him, and he finally admits he can’t cope anymore.

3. Laurel Thomas is stunned by Arthur’s sudden windfall

I’m really hooked on the drama unfolding with Arthur! He’s so preoccupied with Ray’s money, it’s obvious he can’t focus. Gabby Thomas really gave him a piece of her mind at work, and he just snapped! He dramatically quit The Hide right then and there and practically ran home, it was intense.

Back at home, Laurel is deeply affected by recent events. She’s already worried about everything her son has endured, and now feels overwhelmed with guilt about the ongoing disruption to his life.

I was totally shocked when I found Arthur going through things – he was looking for his passport, and it turns out he was planning a trip to Australia! I couldn’t figure out how he’d be able to afford it, so I managed to sneak a peek at an envelope he was hiding, and that’s when I found out how.

Arthur confessed the money originated from Ray’s bag – the very same one that previously held the drugs Laurel had secretly discarded – and Laurel is furious.

During their fight, he shockingly threatened to lie and tell others she was abusive. This deeply hurt Laurel, and she was heartbroken to realize how badly their relationship had deteriorated.

He later apologized for trying to manipulate her with emotional blackmail and pleaded with her to give him the money so he could run away. Once he was gone, Laurel secretly took the envelope from where she’d hidden it and put it in her bag, resolved to protect it.

After hearing Marlon and Rhona Goskirk discuss their financial troubles, Laurel starts to formulate a plan.

4. Dawn Fletcher stuns Joe Tate with a baby revelation

Dawn and Joe are taking a big step forward after getting engaged, but things get even more complicated when Dawn reveals she might be expecting a baby.

He’s become quite the family man in the last year, having taken her three kids under his wing.

Now that Graham Foster, who everyone thought was dead, has unexpectedly returned, will it affect Billy’s views on fatherhood and his desire for a stable life?

5. The residents play matchmaker between Lewis Barton and Vinny Dingle

Fans haven’t seen much of a connection between Lewis Barton and Vinny Dingle lately, but that might change soon. Their friends, Kammy Hadiq and Ross Barton, are planning to bring them together and see if sparks fly again.

But Vinny’s attention is immediately caught when a Delorean parks outside David’s Shop.

Vinny, Kammy, and Dr. Manpreet Sharma (played by Rebecca Sarker) are fascinated by the car, and it doesn’t take long for someone to take it for a spin.

We smell trouble!
