Popular streaming services are increasingly offering video games, with platforms like Amazon Prime’s Luna and Netflix leading the way. This trend is continuing, and now one streaming service that already has a gaming platform is taking it a step further by creating completely new and original games.
Crunchyroll is expanding its Game Vault service by creating its own original games, Variety reported on February 5, 2026. These games, developed under the Crunchyroll Games label, are expected to launch in the near future. While the specific titles and release dates for these Game Vault exclusives haven’t been announced, more details are anticipated later this year. Crunchyroll has stated that they are collaborating with both Japanese and international developers to create games specifically designed for anime fans.
Crunchyroll Is Streaming’s Newest Game Developer

Crunchyroll launched its Game Vault in November 2023 for Mega and Ultimate Fan subscribers. They originally planned to have 100 games available by 2026, and recently reached that goal on February 5th! Popular games currently include Shogun Showdown, 9 Years of Shadows, Steins;Gate, Yuppie Psycho, Kawaii Kitchen, Tengami, and Shin Chan: Shiro & the Coal Town. These games have made the Game Vault a very successful part of the Crunchyroll experience.
This summer, Crunchyroll Game Vault will have 100 games to choose from! Some highlights include Dungeons of Hinterberg, Gungrave G.O.R.E UEE Mobile, Little Goody Two Shoes, Battle Chef Brigade, and Princess Maker 2 Refine+, with many more games coming soon. Crunchyroll announced it’s creating original games just as subscription prices increased by $2. The new prices are $9.99 for the Fan tier, $13.99 for Mega Fan, and $17.99 for Ultimate Fan. Crunchyroll stopped offering a free streaming option last year. These changes suggest Crunchyroll is focusing more on developing its own content while remaining the leading anime streaming service in the West. With new games in development, the platform is expected to grow and improve.
Terri Li, head of Crunchyroll Games, explained that publishing their own games will allow them to create unique and immersive experiences featuring both familiar and new characters. They aim to offer fans a fresh way to connect with the stories and characters they love, and expand the Crunchyroll Game Vault with even more content for subscribers. While details about specific games are coming soon, I’m really looking forward to seeing the original games Crunchyroll develops.
