Olympian Sturla Holm Lægreid Confesses to Affair During Live Interview

He might be wearing a medal, but Sturla Holm Lægreid doesn’t feel like a winner right now.

The athlete cried with emotion after winning the bronze medal in the men’s 20km biathlon at the 2026 Milano Cortina games, and immediately apologized to an important woman in his life.

In a recent interview with NRK, Sturla revealed he’s found love. He said he met the person he considers the most wonderful and kind six months ago. However, he also admitted to making a serious mistake three months ago by being unfaithful. He mentioned sharing this news with someone who may not be seeing or hearing about it right now.

Oh my god, it was heartbreaking to watch! Sturla completely fell apart, and even though he wouldn’t say who she is, he admitted he told her about everything – about cheating, I guess – around a week ago. He was just… devastated. He actually said it’s been the worst week of his entire life, and honestly, you could feel his pain. I just want to reach through the screen and hug him, even though… well, you know. It’s just awful.

He felt like he’d achieved the ultimate success in life, and while others might disagree, he was completely focused on his partner. He admitted that his sporting achievements had taken a backseat recently, and he wished he could be celebrating with her.

Sturla explained that after winning the bronze medal, he felt obligated to admit his error.

I strive to set a good example, but I made a mistake,” he said. “It’s important to own up to actions that go against your values, especially when they’ve hurt someone you care about.

Sturla’s heartfelt admission isn’t the only touching moment from the 2026 Olympics. While Lindsay Vonn aimed to make a triumphant return to alpine skiing in Milano Cortina after retiring in 2019, she unfortunately crashed during the women’s downhill race on February 8th and had to be flown offsite for urgent medical attention.

Despite the setback, the Olympic gold medalist emphasized she was proud that she “dared to dream.”

Despite a disappointing result and significant pain, she said in an Instagram post on February 9th that she has no regrets. She described the feeling of being at the starting line as amazing and unforgettable, and considered simply having a chance to win a success in itself.
