Timothée Chalamet, a celebrated actor with 17 years of experience, recently shared that one project stands out as his favorite. He began his career with a guest appearance on Law & Order (Season 19, episode “Pledge”) and has since become a leading actor of his generation. He’s worked with many acclaimed directors, including Wes Anderson, Luca Guadagnino, Scott Cooper, James Mangold, Woody Allen, Denis Villeneuve, and Greta Gerwig.
During a recent career event hosted by the American Cinematheque, with a guest appearance by Christopher Nolan, the 30-year-old actor shared an interesting behind-the-scenes detail about one of his older films. Here’s what he revealed:
My part in Interstellar wasn’t huge – I was pretty far down the list of actors – but the film arrived at a really important moment in my life and career, when things still felt uncertain. It’s remained my favorite project of all time, and I’ve actually seen it more than any other movie! I’m incredibly thankful to have been involved. Looking back, it feels like a lucky charm – a little spark of good fortune that came when I really needed it.
Christopher Nolan’s 2014 science fiction epic, Interstellar, included a small role for Timothée Chalamet as the younger version of Casey Affleck’s character. The film follows a father (Matthew McConaughey) who travels to space in search of a new planet for humanity. While it received a respectable 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and showcases Nolan’s stunning visual style, many consider it less purely enjoyable than his other films like Inception and The Dark Knight.
Christopher Nolan recently screened his film Interstellar in 70mm at a retrospective event. Timothée Chalamet will next be showing Call Me By Your Name to an audience at the Los Angeles Theater on Friday, February 13th.
‘Interstellar’ is Beloved by an Oscar-winner, Too

So, Cillian Murphy, who’s become practically synonymous with Christopher Nolan, recently shared some thoughts with The Independent about how much he loves Interstellar. It got me thinking – with six Nolan films already under his belt, and fresh off his Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer, they asked him which Nolan movie he wished he’d been a part of. It’s cool to hear what an actor with such a strong history with a director thinks!
I absolutely love Interstellar – it’s a really moving film. I saw it in theaters when my children were young, and it truly affected me, it was heartbreaking. I enjoy watching Christopher Nolan’s films when I’m not in them, because then I don’t have to worry about silly things like how my ears look on camera!
