Vigilantes thoroughly examines Aizawa’s time as a student, revealing details about him and his classmates, including Kurogiri, who later became a major villain. This spinoff actually highlights how much stronger the original series could have been if this story had been fully developed.

This flashback isn’t just about Aizawa, though—it also shows a young Present Mic and Kurogiri (then known as Oboro Shirakumo), revealing their dynamic as a cheerful trio.

This shows that Vigilantes plans to thoroughly explore the characters’ school days, something the original series only briefly touched upon. The story also features Nemuri Kayama, who later becomes the hero Midnight, and includes a battle where she tragically dies. These interactions between characters add emotional depth and make them more relatable, revealing a missed opportunity in the original series to tell this story.

If the main story had included this plotline, the impact of Midnight’s death and the scenes between Aizawa and Kurogiri during the final battle would have been even more powerful, allowing viewers to connect with the characters’ emotions on a deeper level.
